Bug Zappers! Do they work? Do you have one? |

Edited on Tue May-09-06 01:33 PM by Whoa_Nelly
When I was a kid living in the MN woods in the summer, there were people who had those electric bug zappers with the blue light to attract bugs, and the wires to zap'em.
Have always wondered if these contraptions were worth the effort to draw insects to in and away from a home/outdoor space, or if they really attracted even more bugs to the area.
Do these zappers really work? Are they worth having to kill nighttime flying insects?
I know as a kid, I found them fascinating...kind of an amusement factor.

They're mostly useless. They'll zap some bugs, just not the ones you want dead.

Noisy and irritating and I think they attract more bugs than would have been there if you just lit some citronella candles.
I'm not a lover of bugs but I'd rather repel them than kill them loudly.
