Baby's hand severed at chocolate factory
Associated Press

HONOLULU - An 18-month-old girl's hand was cut off when it became caught in a conveyor belt at a chocolate factory she was touring with her family, officials said.

The girl's left hand was caught Saturday in a belt at the Menehune Mac Factory Gift Center, fire officials said. By the time firefighters arrived, employees had bandaged the girl and retrieved her hand.

"Our guys just put it in a bag on ice, just to preserve it in case doctors are able to do anything with it," Fire Capt. Chris Ah Mook Sang said.

She was taken to The Queen's Medical Center, which did not release her condition.

The girl and her family were attending the company's Fifth Annual Mother's Day Candy Making Event, a fundraiser for the Hawaii Children's Cancer Foundation.

2. Terrible
If she's only 18-months old, how did she reach that high?

14. Maybe she was in someone's arms
and saw something and reached for it

18-month-olds will touch anything within reach. She shouldn't have been close enough to touch anything.

13. I'm not trying to justify the parents' lack caution, here, but
sometimes when you're a parent, your attention can be diverted for a split second. Parents are human. Usually, there are no consquences. For some parents, and children, the consequences last a life time. :(

17. Or the Freeper headline: "Young, possible HIV-positive, minority terrorist
pollutes candy factory with own blood and flesh; demands factory employees stop work to find hand, and expects US government-provided medical care after executing act of terrorism".
