Good Monday Morning, Crew!

:donut::hi:
Welcome to the Early Morning Crew thread and the start of a brand new week! :bounce: I hope you had a good weekend with some beautiful weather so you were able to get outside and enjoy some fresh air! I certainly did! :woohoo:

We went shopping on Saturday and got several things, including the movie "Desk Set" on DVD. I love that film! It stars Spencer Tracy and Katharine Hepburn and it is GREAT! If you've never seen it, give it a look...it's a romantic comedy and funny as hells! For Mother's Day, I sent my Mom a bouquet of flowers and when they arrived, she called and said they were beautiful and got a little choked up as she was telling me about them. It was so sweet!

Greekspeak and I got the laundry done on Sunday and I made what is quite possibly the BEST Country Mix CD I've EVER created! :woohoo: I can't wait to listen to it in my car!

So are you ready to get the week started? I hope so...because here it comes! :bounce:

I am painting our bedroom today, and making the laundry room presentable...the sign should go up on Wednesday. I'm a bit melancholy about it all...This is our first real home...

Have a great week, Clintmax!! :loveya:

Pretty boring - the company's trying to introduce a new system, but those who are 'organising' it couldn't organise a piss-up in a brewery...

But I'm happily ignoring all of that - sitting here pretending to work.

How's things with you?

112. MrG is a bit of a perfectionist. Honest to golly, he is worried about
what people we don't even know will think of us. :) We "had to" replace the carpet in the basement. I keep telling him that in a few months we'll see it rolled up at the side of the road because the new owners don't like it. The appraiser in me gets me questioning him all the time.

I'm okay with the paint job, because I don't like the original color I picked out. It's really too dark. Thanks tj!

I read through your post to Clint. Sounds like you had a lot of fun yourself at the jazz evening.

It is hard to lose a friend or family member to cancer or any other reason. Good for you that you do the fund raise. When my granddad died due to cancer we asked for money for the children's cancer foundation instead of flowers. Same when my dad died. Money for a brain cancer research foundation instead of flowers. It helps more than flowers.

of you and your family to ask for donations in lieu of flowers. That way others can be helped too, and it's a nice tribute to your dad.

Nice to hear that you and your sweetie are so compatible. Suspect that you wish that the two of you lived closer. Did he get the job that he was interviewing for?

he has an interview for another job tomorrow and then he will decide which job he takes. Both have their plus and minus.

Actually I am thinking about finding a job and moving to London. I started to apply. Now I need to get lucky in that direction as well. I will only move to London when I have a job. I want to be independant and able to support myself in case something goes wrong with M.

Sounds like you had a good week-end - must have been a pleasant change to have two days off.

I'm in a work-mode and so have got Bach organ works on shuffle, they're excellent to work to, can go on for ages and ages and ages, and on shuffle one has no idea which is coming next.

47. I rarely have music on shuffle.
Because most is comprimsed of multi-track pieces. If a symphony has three movements, for example, each will be set as a separate track and the system won't play them all in order.

85. I just need something that can shuffle in groups.
I set all of the Bach organ works as their own genre which means that I can do it with them (they're all single movement works).

That way you COULD shuffle but still hear all the movements before it moves to the next set.

94. I don't think so.
Because I'd want to hear the 3 movements (say) of a work in order, before moving onto another (randomly chosen) piece to hear its movement in order, and so forth.

75. nothing beats old school films
I have been on a quest to watch the top 100 AFI films of all time. I actually have slacked off quite a bit, I have about 20 left or so, but, man, some of those ones like "The African Queen" or "the Philadelphia Story." It just doesn't get any better.

You know, one film I watched that had a profound impact on me was "Giant" with Rock Hudson and Elizabeth Taylor and directed by George Stevens. I was obsessed with it for several months. I kept renting it, then finally I just bought the damn thing, haha.

118. I'm a farm hick
and a former rodeo competitor, so the ranch thing had me enthralled. That and I am deeply interested in minority and gender roles in society. Giant just happened to hit me on all of those cylinders.

Anything to do with some type of prejudice and the role of the oppressed damn near mesmerizes me. I think minority, gender and gay and lesbian issues are all interrelated in that way. I find it all fascinating. Those are worthy things to fight for too. :)

Didn't do a dman thing Saturday but fool around on the computer and watch basketball. Sunday I spent some time with mom and went to see my cousin who was in town taking some time off from his Navey gig. Then I watched more basketball and dozed on the couch. I'd had kind of a rough week and it was a nice way to spend the weekend.

122. Morning Clint!
Glad to hear that you and Greekspeak had a good weekend. Mine was fine. Went to a jazz concert Saturday night. Very nice They did several original pieces that I just loved. And . . . they were so new they didn't have a name for them yet.

Ahhhhh . . . flowers for your mom, how nice. I was in a bit of a melancholy mood the last few days thinking about mom's day, and not having a mom. Additionally, a group of my friends and I always do this fund raiser walk/run for cancer. We do it in memory of one of our friends. We had his picture silk screened on the back of our shirts as a tribute, but whenever one of my buddies was in front of me, I could see his picture and became sad. But life does go on doesn't it.

Love the movie Desk Set Actually, I have quite an affinity for those old sappy movies. Maybe that's why I like old jazz too.

:donut: :hi:

Sounds like you're ready to start the week! :bounce: I'm glad your Mom liked the flowers. It was sweet of you to send them. :loveya:

We had a nice day. Harleydad made us take a day off from packing and we went on a picnic at the park. We were going to go to the beach, but apparently everyone else had the same idea and it was impossible to find parking. My girls both called and said something's on the way ... and they sent a pile of e-cards meanwhile. I also talked to my grandson. :loveya: He's as cute as can be. :loveya:

We got the kitties new harnesses, leashes, tags, and carriers for the trip. They don't like any of them, but you know how cats are. Have you seen the machine they have at Petsmart that engraves tags? It's pretty neat. :bounce:

Today is Mom's last full day here. She leaves tomorrow morning. She seems to like helping with the packing, so I'm going to let her do more today. I think we're both going to be pretty tired by the time we're done. But she agrees it'll be good if I get packed up early so I can get a good long rest before having to make the drive to TN.

160. And I panicked when I couldn't find something.
Harleydad bought me a John Deere baseball hat (b/c he wants to buy a tractor) and it was different than the others. But I had no idea where it was and didn't remember packing it. We looked all over the place and I was hating the moving thing for a bit. But he found it inside my motorcycle helmet. The funny thing is that I don't even wear hats! I just didn't like that it was missing.

That machine does a GREAT job! We've had lots of tags made before and these were probably the best ones. You get to say what to put on each line and you watch it go. It took a little while to do four of them, but it was interesting. We spent a bundle of money on the critters! You should have seen Sashka with her harness on ... it suddenly paralyzed her. She absolutely couldn't move, even though it was on very loosely. The rest of them decided it wasn't worth getting all upset about.

When harleykid called, she said we're going to have some "Mom and me" time when I get up there. :bounce: Less than three weeks to go! :bounce:

180. Actually, I wondered if there was more.
And I just didn't miss it yet. I've been VERY careful to write long lists on the boxes so I'll know exactly what's in them and I thought I was losing it. Phew!

OK, she wasn't TOTALLY paralyzed, but close enough. She sat like a heap on the floor and crawled on her belly for a few inches before giving up. Then she thought she could get it off if she rolled over a few times ... looked like a little alligator.

Hey, this is weird. I'm looking out the window and it's sprinkling -- just enough so I can see it in the puddles that are already there. But there's not a cloud in the sky! Am I dreaming?

I just read all the e-cards from the kids. Even one of the boys sent one! :bounce: And my grandson -- he's funny. He talks quite well now but can't type very fast, so he tells his mom what he wants to say and she types it. I can imagine hearing him when I read it. :loveya: Yesterday he told me that he sent me a zoo. But he was GOING to the zoo!
