Cats are the darnedest critters |
|
So, my youngest (a little over a year), is a furry little sweetie bugs -- she's always laying next to you, or at your feet, waking you up in the night rubbing her face against yours, etc.... but she NEVER sits in your lap. If you put her there, she'll stay for about two seconds.
So, yesterday afternoon, I'm reading in the living room, and she suddenly pops on my lap, curls up, and sleeps for an hour. And did it twice more before bed. WTF??? She's not sick or anything... I certainly don't mind. I love kitties sleeping on my lap.
The eldest furbaby, ie The Goddess and Alpha Cat, was MOST unhappy with this development... she shoot lasers at me from the coach, where she was holding court in her Teva shoebox.

:loveya: Ours are all different ... and there's only one lapcat in the bunch. Satchmo likes to sleep between my legs, but never on my lap. Yepper, they are curious critters. :loveya:

3. She's an Exotic Shorthair, so her face is kind of smooshy |
|
And grouchy looking most of the time anyway... but she sat up in her shoebox like, "WTF is Beezus doing???" Watched The Beez curl up, and me petting her... then The Goddess put back her eyes and narrowed her eyes and STARED at us for at least fifteen minutes. Later, she wouldn't let me pet her... for a few seconds.
I love kitties.....
And yeah, when you pay attention to one, all the other two get jea;ous... and it's impossible to pet three cats at once....

All of mine get along with eachother extremely well - I certainly lucked out there. All of them will pile into my lap at once (which means there are cats on top of cats) and I've learned how to pet them att at once, using my hands and forearms. It usually starts with Tessa, the Siamese and Stewart, an enormous black smoke Coon, and the Fannie (calico Coon) joins us, then Alice and Amelia (patched tabby Coons) and the Thomas (grey and white Coon, also enormous) ... sort of like how the birds gather in 'The Birds.' only furry and not very ominous. Tessa and Thomas are part Velcro and are almost always on me or very, very nearby.

6. We love 'em -- and not just in spite of their quirks. |
|
Their quirks are one more thing we love about our kitties! :loveya:

And I also like to (gently) squeeze their little thigh muscles -- they feel like drumsticks if their leg is bent.
Okay, I'm far gone with kitties ...

9. Once, I had a cat for a couple of months |
|
before he'd sit on my lap. It happened one day, out of the blue, too. What was funny, was, my cat sat across the room, for a good 10 minutes or so, and sort of studied me first. They have their own set of rules, don't they?:)

don't seem to sit on your lap if they are sensitive to heat. I had one that used to puts its little head on the bed pillow facing me - but only when my husband was away.

11. Teddy was five before he bacame a lap cat. |
|
He was always very affectionate but he would never walk or lay on a person. One day, out of the blue he jumped up on my lap, curled up and went to sleep. He continues to be a lap cat to this day.
