I just got yelled at by the Admin. Asst.
She's off this week, I had to call her to ask something. I let her phone ring 4 times, then hung up thinking she was busy or something and would see the # and call me back. Well, she called back alright...said "Don't EVER hang up in the middle of a ring! That's bad luck!" :wtf:

I guess it began to ring again as I was hanging up...but still...that's a new one on me.

3. "No worries! I counteracted the bad luck by farting into the handset"
That should quiet her down.

5. Phone rings are opposite of what you hear. When you hear ringing over your
receiver is when their phone isn't ringing. When you hear silence is when it is ringing. Why? Don't know. This is why people sometimes answer the phone when you haven't even heard a ring yet on your end.

Her response was still totally insane of course.:P

7. did ya ever pick up the phone to call someone, and not even dial,
and it turns out they were calling you at that very moment, but the phone hadn't quite rung yet? This only works on a land line...it's happened to me a couple of times in my life, and freaked me out each time.

8. You bet. Though not lately.
Used to happen fairly frequently when I was more phone-oriented. I always kinda got a kick out of it.

6. How weird.
Just tell her the ring was fully completed on YOUR end.

10. You should think up other "bad luck" items and
in the course of your dealings with her bust one out every now and again.

Hmm, but what could they be...

How about:

It's bad luck to staple things by picking up the stapler. It must be done with the stapler on the table because doing so will grant the user stability and balance in his/her life.

It's bad luck to walk away from the copier when copying something because when you do it you're saying to the universe "please, take this emptiness (i.e. the lack of you being there) and multiply it for me." Bad mojo there.

Never cross anything out. Always use whiteout because it signifies a new beginning, an absence of regret.

Blue pens, always. The blue denotes water which relates to a calm disposition as well as fluidity of the mind, allowing the user to be open to new ideas and changes.

:hi:

11. Strange superstition.
I'm in the habit of hanging up after 4 rings - especially if I'm not interested in leaving a message or if I think that was plenty of rings for that location.

12. Bad luck for you, or bad luck for her?
Also, does she know that the rings you hear from your end aren't syncronized to the ones that the phone gives out? Tell her to call someone in the next cubicle to see for herself!
