*American Idol* song choices for tonight
Ohmahgod ohmahgod OH MAH GAWD!

Elliott will sing "With Open Arms" (Journey) and something by someone named Bobby Caldwell *

Taylor will sing "Dancing in the Dark" (Springsteen)

The McPheever will sing "I believe I can fly" (R Kelley)

* I meant to mention this before-Elliott's problem seems to be that he doesn't know what good music is supposed to sound like. His favorite "performer" is Usher, he used to work at a Top 40 station (over night shift), and he picked an Elvis song that almost no one could hardly remember. Now he picked a song by Bobby Caldwell (???) that is probably as unfamiliar to most viewers as it is to me. Anyway best of luck to him.

VOTE ELLIOTT!

3. oh no...
The Mcpheever is doing a lousy song.

5. Now you just leave Elliott alone!
Edited on Tue May-16-06 10:03 AM by redqueen
He picked a song no one knows... and (hehehe) worked it out!

Seriously... that was an amazing performance. His voice... love it love it love it.

Journey though? This should be interesting.

Please tell me you're joking about the song choices... what's the show's theme? Songs that suck?

6. I think this is the yearly Clive Davis show
they have to pick a song that Clive produced, owns, or somehow made money off of.

Something like that.

Oh here you go

THE FINAL 3 TOMORROW 8/7cThere's only two weeks left in the competition and three finalists remain! Tomorrow, they'll sing a song of their choice, a song chosen by the judges and a song chosen by legendary music producer, Clive Davis. Don't miss a note, starting tomorrow at 8/7c!

11. I love Bobby Caldwell
He sang that song, "What you won't do for love"

What you want do
Do for love
You've tried everything but you don't give up
In my world, only you
Make me do for love, what I would not do

12. Judge's choice
Actually, the Bobby Caldwell song is Paula Abdul's choice for him. Supposedly, his personal song choice will be something by Ray Charles.

Rumors are that Taylor will be accompanied by David Sanborn tonight.

13. I wanna hear one of these talentless fuckbags sing a real song
not some pop piece of shit that any dickflopping ignorant bassist-fellating mendicant with a vocal chord could hammer out with all the precision of an untuned jackhammer.

Make them sing something that requires some goddamn skill - maybe a composition by George Crumb: I'd suggerst something from "Ancient Voices for Children". Or perhaps something by Yes (Siberian Khatru, perhaps, or Roundabout, or Nu Sommes De Soleil) or Das Lied von Die Erde or something by Peter Gabriel or David Bowie. Maybe "Aqualung" or "Broadsword". Or why not have them sing "Pie Jesu" from the Faure Requiem?

Christ, give them something that actually requires more than a rush-limbaugh-jism-shot of talent.

17. Nashville Star does that
That's why the group on Nashville Star are better all around singers. Most of them play instruments as well. I love the fact that they have to write at least 1 to 2 songs a year.
