Poll question: Is it "Prom" or "The Prom" |
|
Prom? What is this, Canada? Did you also say "when I was at university" or "when I was in hospital"?

American English has quite a few oddities surrounding definite articles.
We go to the store and stay in the hospital, and sometimes we go to the movies. But we go to school (and college), to work and to church and stay in a hotel or a motel. And we rent movies (or videos.)
What an odd bunch of the people we are. :silly:
