I would gladly participate, but....that forum is sometimes tainted with discussions pertaining to the American League.
And that's not even real baseball.
Perhaps somebody could start a National League Forum? Then we could have some intelligent discussion between knowledgeable fans.
;)

6. I'm indifferent about the DH |
|
High schools use it. Colleges use it. Why not the pros? But either make both leagues have the DH or ban it from both leagues. Having one league with the DH and not the other is like having the forward pass in the AFC but not the NFC. Just plain stupid.

7. High schools and colleges didn't use the DH |
|
until the pros started.
They also use aluminum bats. Should the pros?
I reject the DH because baseball has never had separate offensive and defensive teams, a la football (which didn't always, either). The DH is a step toward that.

8. I wish HS and colleges would stop using the aluminum bats |
|
At least at the HS Varsity level. They are so dangerous.

As in "misleading because balls go farther when struck by them"?
I hate 'em because "Off with the tink of the bat" is just wrong. x(

13. Actually, I grew up watching baseball, and do understand NL |
|
as well as AL styles of play. I watch more AL now, because I am a huge fan of the Seattle Mariners.

15. I'm fortunate to live in a town where I have a choice... |

But I'm still a National Leaguer, even though the AL team here happens to be the World Champions. It might be said that the Sox play more like a NL team than an AL team though. For an AL team, the Sox are good at moving runners up and a solid defensive team with good pitching. Not many AL teams can make that claim.

16. The Mariners had a good spell of playing more like an NL team |
|
during Lou Pinella's later years as our Manager (damn, but I still miss him!). I know lots of people love to see home runs, and I admit I'm one of them, but I also like seeing base stealing, bunts, sacs, AND the suicide squeeze (which was one of Lou's fav things to have the players do), on the offensive side. Defensively, yeah, pitching pitching pitching has got to be there. And there's nothing quite like a great defensive play.

But you get many more and quicker responses in the Lounge, especially if you post something along the lines of "Barry Bonds ate my baby."
