Poll question: Best DEAD band (ie, "dead" is in the band's name) |
|
Edited on Tue May-16-06 06:08 PM by undisclosedlocation
Yeah, I know, my first music poll in-- hell I dunno, read my journal-- and all I can come up with is this? Anyway it isn't another ELO poll :D
First person to say The Ramones loses 1,000 hipness points.

Dead Kennedys a close second.
Does "Death" count? If so, Death From Above 1979 is another good one.
Dead Prez and Dead Boys are pretty awesome too.

4. I think "Death" would be a separate poll |
|
eg Southern Death Cult, aka The Cult. Also I understand that a lot of people like Death Cab for Cutie. (I'm almost 44; pretty much at sea with anything from after say 1988.)

28. I live in Cleveland and I wouldn't say that. |
|
Many of the artists we produce (aside from Pere Ubu, The Dead Boys and punk/hardcore before punk/hardcore Electric Eels) are either derivative bandwagon jumpers (Mushroomhead, Chimaira), derivative/average semi-national wonders who never quite made it (Michael Stanley Band, Dink, Levert, The Spudmonsters, Bone Thugs n Harmony), forever local because they're derivative (Beau Coup, Zaza, Fayrweather, Cryptkicker, 216 and about a billion other Peabodys-core bands too numerous to name), undeservedly not making it for whatever reason (Keelhaul) or nationally huge because they got the hell out of Cleveland due to lack of support from the jealous music locals (Nine Inch Nails, Filter).

19. You'd think the Grateful Dead would have used this as a title for a live |

album... though Live/Dead worked pretty well, too.

27. Tie between Dead Can Dance and the Dead Kennedys. |
|
Never got into the Grateful Dead. Their music bored the shit outta me and the people in my city who liked them were generally preppy asshole posers.
Another "Dead" not listed is the Canadian metal band Dead Brain Cells. Good techno-thrash back in 88-90.
