I can't get up for interleague baseball |
|
It's like they're exhibition games and don't count in the standings.

3. interleague play helped me immensely today... |
|
The Red Sox beat the Phillies and we beat the Yankees...That means the Mets have a 3 game lead in the NL east and the Yankees fall farther back.
Whats not to love?

Since the beginning of time, baseball was always NL vs. NL and AL vs. AL, and the best of each fight it out at the end.
At the end.
That's how it oughta be.

I love beating the Yankees...it's just so satisfying. The rest of the match-ups IMHO can piss off, I'm really not much of a fan of interleague either. I'm a purist, I hate the DH as well

is one of life's little pleasures.
Doesn't matter who does the beatin', as long as it's thorough and painful.

and so much fun a walk-off single in the 9th by David Wright against Rivera...so enjoyable. I even had a Yankees fan close by to gloat over!

21. I can hardly believe I'm saying this-- |
|
--but on the whole, I haven't minded the Yankees' success these past ten years. And realize: I'm a third-generation Red Sox fan. Dad always talked about the good old days of Williams and Doerr and Dom DiMaggio..."he's better than his brother Joe...Dominic DiMaggio..."...my great-uncle used to tell me stories of the 1912 World Series...and of course the 2004 ALCS was the highlight of my sports life. And yes, Steinbrenner is still there, and that should be all that needs to be said...but it isn't. Joe Torre is simply a class act, and he's made it almost impossible for me to hate these Yankee teams...:-(...and GOD, I hate that... On the subject of this thread, I think you're right--it was fun, but I'm tired of it. And the World Series has suffered, though the long playoffs and above all the verminous "wild card" have been more important there...

I went to a game last Saturday when the Mariners were in town, and Angels fans are the most shallow, entitled (they act like they have won every World Series, not just one in 2002), and boorish fans I have ever encountered - and I have been to some of the rudest parks in the game. It is what you would expect of O.C. - white GOP clowns.

19. Weaver has to bat because they're in LA |
|
But Sele's pitching for the Dodgers, and that kinda sucks. If it were a pitching matchup with a history, I'd hope to hear some chin music. :bounce:
Except there's that unwritten rule that pitchers don't throw at pitchers. Brethern, and all that. :eyes:

How was Weaver at the plate last year?
He ain't touched a bat in months, though...so he ain't gonna have no kinda swing...

He drove in a few runs. Lemme look up his numbers.
.229, two doubles, seven RBI. Only struck out 19 times in 70 ABs, which is pretty good for a pitcher.
But, yeah — enemy. :grr:
(Dodgers lead 4-2. Psycho's gone.) :bounce:
