The official harbingers of summer have arrived....ANTS |
|
Edited on Sat May-20-06 04:01 AM by SoCalDem
And they are early this year.. I found an ant super-highway trailing across the family room and into my kitchen..:grr:.. Oh how I hate that MONSTER 8 ft sliding door..the track is hopelessly tweaked from almost daily use for about 28 years..and the ants always get in ..
I cannot use poisonous stuff because of my kitties, so I douse them with windex (kitties hate the smell, and it's less toxic than petropoisons)..

You might also try sprinkling some cinnamon. Ants apparently can't stand it. We had an ant invasion in our kitchen recently and this worked for us.

We used to lay it across the opening that thy were coming in from. Speaking of ants there is one on my desk right now. A big one!

4. Cat friendly option... |
|
ORANGE-scented 409.
Seriously. Used it once in a pinch and the ants haven't been back. I've been told they hate the smell of citrus.

6. Try cinnamon on the door track |
|
THey can't stand it and it will keep them out. Meanwhile your best kitty friendly bet for dispatching the ants already indoors is a spray bottle filled up with hot water, add a squirt of peppermint dr bronners soap (avail at trader joes or health food stores) and 10-20 drops of tabasco sauce. Squirt in a spray and not a fine mist or you'll pepper spray yourself.
