Poll question: Favourite Batman Movie
I think Batman (1989) is my fav, mostly because it's so dark and Tim Burton-ish.

1. I voted Batman Begins
But I don't remeber the previous one so well, only that horrendous one with Mr. Freeze. Christain Bale is awesome, I can't believe he gained 100lbs of muscle give or take to play that role, that's insane.

6. Me too.
He actually only put on about 20 extra muscle pounds, he had dropped about 63 pounds (going from 185 to 121) for The Machinist and had to bulk up again in a hurry. Still insane though. :)

8. It has a certain je ne sais quoi about it which the other lack.

It isn't a "pure Batman" film - but explores more around the subject.

They used some of these graphic novels to get the mood right.

Batman: Year One
This is the obvious one. This is where they drew a lot of the ideas and characters from. Bruce Wayne's return to Gotham. Jim Gordon as a lone good cop in a bad city. Detective Flass made his first appearance here. Carmine Falcone. Commisioner Loeb. And the famous scene in which Batman uses a sonic device in his boot to attract hundreds of bats to help him escape the police.

'Batman: Arkham Asylum'
Apparently the first Batman comic that Bale read as an adult and the one which switched him on to Batman as a darker, more realistic character. Constructed like a fever dream, this story is written Grant Morrison and beautifully painted by Dave McKean. Arkham Asylum is where all of the insane criminals that Batman captures are imprisoned and is featured heavily in the Batman Begins movie.

'Batman: The Long Halloween' (my favorite)

This is the ground breaking story written by Jeph Loeb and drawn by Tim Sale which continues directly from "Batman: Year One" (although, officially, it should be read after 'Catwoman : Her Sister's Keeper' ).
Bale has read this, along with these two other books by Loeb and Sale:

Hush
Also written by Jeph Loeb, this series was obviously read by the Batman Begins web design team because they made a part of it available on the site.

9. Begins was the Batman movie I'd waited my whole life for
It was the first one to capture the Denny O'Neil/Neal Adams feel of the early '70s character--Batman's heyday, in my opinion.

No other Batman movie comes close.

was better than all of those. Kevin Conroy is Batman.

14. the other films aren't quite as good as Mask of the Phantasm-
Batman and Robin: Sub Zero (with Mr. Freeze)

Worlds Finest (The Batman and Superman Movie), which is about as good as ANY superhero film can get. But it's not solely a Batman film so I left it out. FYI, watching Bat shoulder throw Supes is about the coolest thing ever.

18. Bale = Batman
The rest (sorry Clooney) are only posers.

This latest Batman had twice the heart
(and six times the script) of any of the
others.

The first one I did not fall asleep during......
