1. Enjoy doing your civic duty! (I'm serious!) |
|
Take a book - there will be a lot of sitting around.

I think that's what I did....I got selected and the defence attorney asked my one question and I wasn't selected. :)

6. I had it on the 11th and I'm glad I did! My advice... |
|
crossword puzzles work best if you need quiet to read. There were about 200 or so people in the jury room and it was kind of loud. I couldn't really concentrate on my book. Though, stupid me, I took "A Farewell To Arms" which I've started about six times and always get bored enough to quit.
Anyway, I was extra excited because in my county May is criminal trial month. I figure I would have got kicked off the jury if it was a civil case about insurance or something Enron-y for sleeping. But I got picked early in the morning and ended up on a jury for a cocaine delivery trial. It was interesting...the word of the cop versus the word of the defendant...that sort of thing.
Long story short...it was my first time and it wasn't nearly as bad as I've heard!
Best of luck!

you can't have much of an opinion on anything. When I had jury duty I was passed-over because i was working as a nurse in a detox/substance abuse center. Both of the cases had to do with drunk driving offenses. They want you to have not followed the news, on TV or in the papers. They seemed to like the blank-headed dummies.
