I got lost in the woods today.
I found a waterfall and crossed it, and then I saw a tree, which someone had put their name on, but in marker, not carved. Then went off on an unmarked trail that dissapeared, which I think was just a dry streambed anyway. So then i started going uphill, through the woods with no trail at all. Walked into a spiderweb and freaked out. Kept going. The trees were really tall and close together. Then the woods thinned out, and I came to a hill surrounded by woods, with no trees on it, just grass and flowers. I could hear cars but I couldn't see cars, and there was a tiny pond on top of the hill. It looked like there had been a fire, because a few trees on the other side of the hill were dead and burnt, and there were patches of ground that only had rocks and red dirt on them.

What a pointless story.

1. That can be so scary.
It doesn't take a forest to get lost in, either. I once walked in circles for over four hours before I found the right path.

2. For some reason that sounds profound to me
just switch the words "four hours" to "for nearly a lifetime". :)

9. It was kind of fun, actually.
Remember, you're never really lost, because no matter where you go, they can find you.... *cue creepy music*

3. you see I've been through the forest without a horse with a name
it felt good to be out of the traffic. In the forest, you can remember your name, because there ain't nobody there to throw raw eggs
that's why I'd rather walk a forest than a street. Yes I would. If I could.

I got lost in a parody today.

4. No little stick-people hanging from the trees?
and stay away from the old burned down house, especially if you took one of the stick people. Just sayin'. :P

7. nothing pointless about that
wilderness/will of the place.

it's sometimes in those natural places that we find our beaten down and trammeled humanity. we recognize that part of human essence that often goes unheeded or that which tries to escape and lash out. that force in us which seeks expression, an innate humanity that is unmediated. something that transcends work/consumerism/hatred/conditioning.

quietude.

the primal terror of a place filled with gods. the tree/the squirrel/the sound of woodland creatures as deity.

our ancestors feared and embraced nature. nature/the will of nature is the foundation of spirituality. the ecstasy/fear of a dark place filled with animals and plant life.

i envy your experience.

10. Really? : )
Yeah, I guess I'm a tree person. My town is pretty boring/red, and I like going New York because the people there are artistic and think more than the people in Nowheresville, but cities give me headaches...:eyes:

8. If you go down in the woods today, you'd better not go alone.
(click here for melody: http://www.northern-pine.com/songs/tbpicnic.html)

If you go down in the woods today,
You're sure of a big surprise.
If you go down in the woods today,
You'd better go in disguise.

For every bear that ever there was
Will gather there for certain because
Today's the day the Teddy Bears have their picnic.

Every Teddy Bear who's been good
Is sure of a treat today.
There's lots of marvelous things to eat
And wonderful games to play.

Beneath the trees where nobody sees
They'll hide and seek as long as they please
'Cause that's the way the Teddy Bears have their picnic.

It's lovely down in the woods today,
But safer to stay at home.
For every bear that ever there was
Will gather there for certain because
Today's the day the Teddy Bears have their picnic.

Picnic time for Teddy Bears...
The little Teddy Bears are having a lovely time today.
Watch them, catch them unawares,
And see them picnic on their holiday.

See them gaily gad about.
They love to play and shout.
They never have any care.

At six o'clock their Mummies and Daddies
Will take them home to bed,
Because they're tired little Teddy Bears.

13. Not pointless at all. The accidental places are the coolest
I remember a mountain trip when I was a kid.. (Rockies..Wyoming).. We wandered around and found the most gorgeous little beaverpond with a hude meadow.. The whole meadow was covered in very thick moss.. We kids laid on our backs for what seemed like hours...just watching the clouds drift along.. It was like being oon a velvet carpet.. We never saw the beavers, but we knew they were watching us :)
