Prom update
I posted that my wife and I were going to host an all night co-ed post prom party on Friday and said I would give an update.
Heres the original thread http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=105&topic_id=5174045&mesg_id=5174045

The party was a huge success. There were 20 kids here and not a single problem. There was a pre-prom BBQ at one parents house that we went to when the kids were dressed to get pictures so we met with most of the other parents. 14 kids chipped in and rented a van to drive them so no one had to worry about driving.
They showed up here a little before 1 AM and the last few left at 1 PM today.
They hit the pool as soon as they came in but the water was on 74 and the outside temp was only 55. That didn't last long and they gathered in the family room and my daughters bedroom and watched TV, talked and played games. They started passing out around 2:30 and the majority of them were asleep in a big dog pile in the family room by 3:30. One group stayed up until 4 and a couple of kids had commitments and got picked up at 5. I stayed up all night to make sure no one did anything they were not supposed to do and my wife went to bed at 4 when all the kids were asleep.
These were all juniors and I doubt if I will do it again next year for the seniors but I'm glad we gave the kids a good time.

4. I'm glad it worked out well and that you
were able to touch base with the other parents before the party.

The van with driver was a good idea. Better safe than sorry.

5. It's wonderful how nice kids can be when they're raised well, and guided
by good people who really enjoy BEING parents, and who truly understand how to be parents.

You couldn't have made a nicer, safer co-ed prom evening for a bunch of kids!!!!

Props!

And you should do it again next year.. that way you'll know where those kids are and what they're doing!

7. It's wonderful that you offered a safe place as an option.
Much better than when I was in high school. We drove to the river bottoms and got drunk after every major school event.

I didn't go to the prom but I went to the afterparty. Riverbottoms, as usual.
