1. Yup, if I thought it would be a good meetup.
I'd also drive 10,000 miles to meet a certain DU'er that I've not met, but I have spoken to...

buried right now under the seats that became scratchpads for cats, the box containing the new convertible top, toolboxes and various effluvia.

currently restoring the drivetrain and suspension bushings on my daily-driver, a '82 nissan 280ZX, so the alfa is out of reach.

mixed/matched parts from 2 alfas i bought to repair major body creases, filled minor dents w/ lead instead of bondo, sanded & repainted.

rebuilt the engine, the orig '78 2000cc mill but w/ dual side-draft webers instead of the clunky mechanical fuel injectors.

all it needs is reupholstered seats (my fault, i shd have known the kitties wd find them irrestible) and mounting the new fabric tiop, but it's out of reach till i can get the Z car out of the garage.

jags rule! your father's prbly having a blast w/ it. think he'll let you drive it when he's done?

57. The farthest a DUer has travelled to FUNDAY is about 400 miles
Edited on Mon May-22-06 02:53 PM by 5thGenDemocrat
Davsand travelled from her hometown near Danville, IL to Saginaw, MI -- 399 miles -- for FUNDAYs VIII and IX (bringing Kheph with her to the first) and the Ohio Blues came from Cincinnati last year. Maybe we'll set a new distance record this year (Edited to add that the farthest anyone has travelled to attend a FUNDAY is my old buddy Liz B, who got here from Tempe, AZ for FIII. A nod also has to go to my childhood friend, Paul P, who journeyed from Tulsa last year and will be here again for this one).
John
All are invited. See the corresponding thread over in the MICHIGAN forum.
It is now 25 days, 20 hours and 12 minutes to FUNDAY XII.

Teehee!

I'd surely walk a mile or two - but 1500 miles with the way gas prices are? Better be a really cool person!

91. Is she single and cute?
Because unless there is a DU convention, there is no way I would drive that far to meet a DUer.

I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles) by The Proclaimers

When I wake up yeah I know I'm gonna be
I'm gonna be the man who wakes up next to you
When I go out yeah I know I'm gonna be
I'm gonna be the man who goes along with you

If I get drunk yes I know I'm gonna be
I'm gonna be the man who gets drunk next to you
And if I haver yeah I know I'm gonna be
I'm gonna be the man who's havering to you

But I would walk 500 miles
And I would walk 500 more
Just to be the man who walked 1,000 miles
To fall down at your door

When I'm working yes I know I'm gonna be
I'm gonna be the man who's working hard for you
And when the money comes in for the work I'll do
I'll pass almost every penny on to you

When I come home yeah I know I'm gonna be
I'm gonna be the man who comes back home to you
And if I grow old well I know I'm gonna be
I'm gonna be the man who's growing old with you

When I'm lonely yes I know I'm gonna be
I'm gonna be the man whose lonely without you
When I'm dreaming yes I know I'm gonna dream
Dream about the time when I'm with you.

But I would walk 500 miles
And I would walk 500 more
Just to be the man who walked 1,000 miles
To fall down at your door
