What was your most creative excuse for missing work or school?
Mine was when it was nearly freezing and raining outside, last January, and my only clean coat was my down parka. I realized my umbrella was in the car. My excuse: I couldn't get my down coat wet! I took the day off of work (called in and used one of my personal days). Later, when I really needed that personal day (for an emergency) I had to laugh at myself for actually talking myself into taking a day off of work so my coat wouldn't get wet!

Now that it's Sunday night, I find myself plotting ways to get out of work tomorrow...hmm.

2. When I was a supervisor once, an employee actually called in
..and said, "I'm dead." That's all he said! After some prodding, he admitted to having a hangover.

3. My Dad told the school I had to get my braces tightened to get me out of
school once. Apparently it's so common an excuse for Junior High kids it never occured to anybody that I didn't even have braces. :D

I did have Metallica tickets though. :bounce: I had to leave early in the afternoon to get to Oakland in time.

6. Sounds like he was a cool dad...
My parents never would've gone for that. Heh...if we said we were too sick to go to school, my mother figured we were sick enough to go to the doctor so she'd take us. If the doctor said we were fine, she'd drop us off at school on the way home.

We didn't try and get out of school very often.

7. In junior high I got really good at faking sick.

You know that fine line of tricking your parents into letting you stay home but not having to take you to the doctor? Yeah, I got that. I got so good at it that I could manifest physical symptoms (swollen glands, warm forehead, etc.) without actually feeling sick. :D

I never really had a problem with school, so I never came up with anything really creative.

The only time I've ditched work I really was sick. And it was on my second to last day, too. :D
