Have any of you used monster.com to find a job?
I am wary of posting my personal information on a web site!

The reason I ask is because a former classmate emailed me several jobs posted on monster.com, but I found out I have to register with the site before I apply for the jobs.

I recently graduated from school - nothing fancy, just a shitty little associate degree (medical lab technician) that's not worth the paper its printed on, no doubt.

I'll probably end up working at some shitty minimum wage job, as per usual.

Rant over.

But I use a specialized board for that. Lots of times companies looking for people to hire will monitor several job boards suitable for their industry.

I don't know what monster does now, but the first professional job I got was through monster. So it worked for me. I listed my resume, contact info and expecte salary range.

edit: There is a company that specializes in biotech job fairs, you might try listing with them. I can't remember their name now (I'm at work). I'll look for it when I get home.

2. Thank you for your reply!
I have obviously never used such a resource to get a job, and wondered just how helpful sites like monster are.

6. You're welcome
I meant to add that companies using more than one board means you are likely to see the same job listed on several job boards (that's good, means it's a real job and they are looking for someone)

edit: the one I was talking about is http://www.hirehealth.com/

Good luck, and congrats on your degree! :hi:

8. I did for a temp job
If you are going to be applying to several jobs and don't mind contacts from emplyment agencies, register with Monster. They usually do list some kind of contact information so you usually can apply in other ways too. You can view without registering.

11. I am going to apply for every job I possibly can,
although I would prefer applying to the companies directly!

9. Yes
but for the years I spent looking on it for one, it was hardly a time saver.

One thing you must not ever do is use the Quick Apply, they get tagged as spam. Find the company name, or email address of where the quick apply is going, go to that company's website, and figure out who to send it to from there.

10. Thank you!
I would prefer, if possible, to apply directly to the company without having to register with monster or similar sites.
