1. Outside of some cool vintage car museums, I got the hell OUTTA there
when I was there for a convention some years back; HATED the place.

Rent a car and go to Hoover Dam; go see some Native American sites; go exploring; just get away from the ATM/Slot Machine boredom.

Ish ish ish ish. Hate the place.

3. The guy who owns the IP's vintage car museum is a literal Nazi
Ralph something-or-other.

Hence his fascination with Hitler cars. He got "busted" a few years back forcing staff to attend birthday parties for Hitler -- complete with cakes that said "Happy Birthday Adolph."

5. hey granny, what all did you hate
I've never been to Vegas but I always thought it might be a fun, if cheesy, way to lose money. :o

2. Come on over to my place. We'll get drunk, then act embarrassingly
But seriously:

While I hate the "Vegas" thing, when friend are here, we do it anyway. The Palms has good nightclubs and bars ("The Ghost Bar" usually has cool stuff going on), and an IMAX movie theater. The Stardust is good if you like an Old Vegas feel but don't want to go downtown; it's also close to the monorail.

Great shows, all the time, if you ask me tomorrow, I'll give you the address of a place that sells show tickets half-price. The catch is that, according to their contract, they only sell the tickets for that day and that day only, and you can only find out in person.

"Avenue Q" is hilarious, and closes next week; if you can see it, go.

"Spamalot" come sometime in the fall, replacing "Q" at the Wynn.

Great nudie bars. World-class, really.

You know, I'd just pay the seven bucks for a monorail ticket, and ride up and down the Strip all night, drinking and carousing and generally making jackasses of yourselves.

Welcome, friend.

4. Don't leave the building! Everyone is trying to go there!
The Hardrock is jumpin if you want somewhere to hang out before the evening jumps off.

The Forum Shops at Caesars is really cool to hang out.

6. For cheap/free things
The Hoover Dam
Ethel M. Chocolate Factory and Botanical Garden
Tour the theme hotels. Both indoors and out they are a sight to see.
Red Rock Canyon

Las Vegas is fun and beautiful. I was there for a week several years ago and wasn't bored for a minute.

7. Celebrity Poker?
The new season starts airing next week so they might be taping. It's held at the Palms.

The Big Shot at the Strat. World's most unique thrill ride and you get about four seconds of zero-gee. I would pass on the other two rides up there.

Toured Hoover Dam a couple of years ago and it's not like it was before 9/11. But they still take you down to powerhouse.

Just walking across the dam and staring into the spillway opening on the Arizona side is pretty impressive.

Here's a pic of what the dang thing looked like before they let Lake Mead fill:

9. It's no longer the hard hat tour
Just a series of lectures and videos and then they whisk you down to the powerhouse for about ten minutes and then back up. This would have been Spring 2003. Things may have changed by now, but I doubt it.

10. Ah
I'm surprised they even let you in the powerhouse. After all, this is a post-9/11 world. :sarcasm:
