leftist_rebel1596 answers your questions in this thread
Edited on Tue May-23-06 01:04 AM by leftist_rebel1569
A group of people recently labeled me as "smart". I did not know this group of people as this was an anonymous poll done by members of my group in one of my classes that I (thank god) no longer attend because I, for one, am "too cool for school" (or as the rest of my group would rather have you believe, "constantly tardy" and "unprepared").

Anyways, since I am "smart", I will be fielding questions in this thread. Basically, you get what you put out - a well thought-out question may or may not get a well thought-out answer, and a yes or no question will more than likely get a yes or no. No horseplay or I'll hit you.

Okay, ask your questions.

edit: JESUS CHRIST I CAN'T SPELL MY OWN USERNAME ANYMORE WHY THE HELL AM I DOING THIS OH GOD :hangover:

1. Who do you consider to be the greatest
realist painters of the 20th century? Besides Kinkaid, I mean.

of course... What about you, Heidi?

4. Realism is for FOOLS.
kidding, kidding. Though, Impressionism is where it's at. Monet, Renoir, Degas...good stuff.

Though, speaking of Degas, he's probably my favorite of the Realists. I like Millet as well, but that's as far as my knowledge of realism goes.

5. I agree. I love the Impressionists.
Though Monet is probably my favorite; I love the way he captures light.:D

And what do you think of Pointillism, a variation on this theme? I particularly admire Georges Seurat.;)

17. Georges Seurat founded what's called Neoimpressionism.
They rejected traditional Impressionism, and its spontaneity, for a more "scientific" type of Impressionism. Pointillism uses tiny dots of color to create a painting. I've seen a Seurat up close, which is remarkable, since he died young, so wasn't very prolific. His paintings are quite interesting, made a big impression on me, obviously. :-)

19. Oh, I remember now
I remember seeing a very large painting like that and I was impressed by the amount of work that had to have gone into such a painting.

29. Whose painting was it?
There aren't very many of them in existence, so I consider myself fortunate to have seen a genuine Seurat. And I agree! What a lot of work goes into creating a painting like this! And how did we get on this esoteric subject?! LOL!:D

33. I don't remember
It was a painting of a chariot, and it was at least 100 square feet in size (if that helps).

34. Well, you've got me swinging, my friend, LOL!
I doubt this was a Seurat, since his paintings are fairly small. A lot of work goes into them. But I could probably find it, with a just little more info. I'm smart too. But you already knew that.:hi:

What have you been doing with yourself for all this time? I want specifics, and candidates, LOL!:D

And don't threaten to hit me because you know that I'm a pretty good shot!;)

7. Specifics? Candidates?
Given that I have been under the influence of substances that are not currently legal in the United States for the last 8 months straight, I can't be too specific. However, I can tell you this: I have been working a menial, low-paying job for an unknown reason and am currently in the process of quitting said job because the offered level of incentives is much too low for me to continue working there. I just finished up high school/community college (for those that don't know, my genius has led me to take classes at a community college through a state program for both college and high school credit) and that's been working out good for me because I'm getting up at 10 or 11 and laying in bed until 1 in the afternoon now. I bought and sold a couple synthesizers and now I have just one nice old one that works out well for me. Nothing super exciting has happened to me lately that I can think of, so I'll leave it at that.

18. Oh.
Well, I guess we haven't been in touch for awhile. The last I knew, you had become more involved in politics, were working for candidates.

I'm sorry about the job, my friend, but there will be other, better jobs. And you're not exaggerating when you say that you're smart. I learned quite a lot about politics from you, even to appreciate Al Sharpton, LOL!:D

So hang in there. What are your plans regarding school? You once hoped to study architecture. But you have time. Decide what you want and makes some plans. You do have a great deal to offer and you're going to do well, I know.:hi:

20. I was working for the Democrats for a while
but after the election ended I got too busy with work and school and other stuff. So, I've been out of the loop lately.

I'm going to a real college next year, Hamline University, and I'm studying some sort of social science, though I'm not quite sure which one. Probably Political Science or something along those lines.

Anyways, how've you been?

31. I'm still hanging in there, my friend.
And I'm glad that you have plans for college. You know that you are intelligent, so you may need to push yourself a little. Political science would be perfect for you, since you're both smart, and informed.

JK told me that you were working for the Democrats, and I was pleased that you'd become involved. You have a lot to offer them, and may be able to do more while you're in school. A lot of students are politically active and they have groups on campus.

Take your time, my friend, and decide what you really want to do. You have so much to offer.

Best wishes, always, from me. Let me know how you're doing.

14. because they're really bad people in disguise.
In all seriousness, though, the forces of the universe are on a path that is determined and mathematically discernable in some way that, through interactions with one another, cause events perceived as "bad" to happen. It can happen anywhere, anytime, and to anyone.

15. that only brings on more questions
I'm from Minneapolis. Why does it get so cold here?

And why is it so freaking hot here right now? Not only is going out for cigarette breaks my exercise for the day, but it's usually refreshing. It's warm out it's it's 2.30 in the morning.

22. Well,
It gets cold here because during the wintertime at this altitude, we get a significantly smaller share of the solar energy that's coming towards the earth because of it being tilted in a certain direction. Also, since there's no ocean or really, really large body of water around to regulate temperatures, we're more prone to large fluctuations in temperature. Take Duluth for example - Duluth is much cooler in the summer than the Twin Cities area, but it's usually only a tad bit cooler in the winter, mostly because of latitude. So, their temperature fluctuates less than ours does because they have a large body of water to help regulate temperatures.

Also, it's hot because we've had winds blowing from the south for the last couple days because of the positioning of a low pressure in North Dakota as contrasted with a high pressure out east somewhere.

why they changed St. Paul's name to St. Paul from Pig's Eye? That's a much better name for a city.

I've been working as a weapons inspector for a few months now and they've sent me to some bizarre places. I was on Mars a couple weeks ago, and I didn't find really anything. Though, I am proud to say I now own the franchising rights to the first Hard Rock Cafe on Mars.
