These last two American Idol contestants prove that Star Search
should come back. American Idol has sunk to new lows and I guess that's what makes them popular. The "lows" have it.

2. Yeah, cause Star Search
gave us the likes of Brittney Spears and Sinbad. How do you compete with that????

The two left have great voices.

6. I don't watch the show, but if "The two left have great voices"
Why didn't they get "discovered" like other talented musicians who didn't go on the show?

BTW, do the contestants play their own instruments and write their own music/lyrics? I honestly don't know.

7. There are lots of people with great voices
that never get discovered just as there are a lot of shitty vocalists (Spears) that do get discovered. It is WAY more than the voice, sadly.

They do not play their own instruments (one guy did bring a harmonica), and they sing pop (and other genre) "standards."

10. This is one mode they used to "get discovered"
and they don't play their own instruments or write their own lyrics, at least for the show.

I agree that the two finalists are talented kids. I like the show. It's cheesy but it's fun to watch after a long day at work.

14. Not all singers play their own instruments or write songs
Mariah doesn't play her own instruments or write her own stuff.

16. Mariah writes her own songs
Not always by herself, but she does have a hand in writing them.

17. Sure she'll put the "baby" in the lyrics
My point was that to say that if they don't write their own stuff and play their own instruments, which Taylor plays the harmonica, that they are not real musicians. That is simply not true. Also, Elvis didn't play many instruments and he DID NOT write his own songs, but he's the King of Rock n' Roll.

12. you are so right
The closest thing to her this season was Paris, who with Eliott were the two best singers this year IMO. The producers might think about limiting voting in future seasons, so the results are more reflective of the viewers favorites.

13. It's so long that I'm worn out by now
Edited on Tue May-23-06 06:04 PM by mvd
Also, my favorite, Katharine, made the final 2 - but I really like Taylor. So I'm not all that invested in the finale. Both singers will have albums out soon anyway.
