Why brothel?
What's the etymology of the word? It's not like they serve soup in there.

2. Because brothel means "prostitute".
It should really be brothel-house, but has been shortened to brothel.

Here is the etymology from dictionary.com:


Short for brothel-house, from Middle English brothel, prostitute, from brothen, past participle of brethen, to go to ruin, from Old English brothan, to decay.
