Is ephedra legal again?
A store at the mall has a huge sign up for selling ephedra-based goods.

1. Yes. However, Federal appeals court is about to
overturn the judgement that repealed the ban.

2. I just bought some Claritin D at the drug store and had to show
my license and sign for it.

I don't know if it contains ephedra.

If you haven't seen the movie "Salton Sea", there is a great scene at the beginning that Val Kilmer is narrating that shows a speed freak buying about a thousand boxes of cold medicine.

3. I don't know, but unless you're on the lookout for heart attack
I'd avoid it.

I'm just tired of being laughed at... by people uglier than me.

(The back problems are a legit issue too...)

See, I'm not totally depressed! Even I can see I'm not as bad looking as some other people! I may be a 4/10, but I'm not a 1/10!

In the pictures I've seen you look great.

13. You take too many other meds.
I wouldn't take it, if I were you.

Parsley tea can have a mild diretic effect, if you want to lose a couple of pounds of water weight. I have heard of people injesting psyllium w/ a glass of water before a meal. Supposedly it will increase its mass, causing the stomach to have less room for food.

6. In most healthy people who use real ephedra
(not pseudo products) it is fine to use in small amounts, mainly as a bronchodilator. The main problems were when people were using them as a quick fix for dieting and as an energy boost. People used to drink it in a tea form for head colds and respiratory colds. Once caffiene was mixed in (like the classic White Crosses) people realized how easy it was to take a few pills-and then a few more. The combination of the two speed up the heart rate.

I'd have no problem w/ a healthy adult using powered ephedra as a tea, as long as they are not using any other meds w/ it and use it in the recommended doses. The problem is that most adults do not have the common sense to use the recommended dose.

20. Look into the psyllium instead.
I've heard of some decent weightloss on it and it is all natural.

I've been thinking about it myself.

12. Used properly, by folks without existing conditions
it's a very good supplement. The Chinese have used it for...well, ever.

14. You and I had the same thought.
I've used a tea form of it in the past and have had good success w/ clearing up congestion.

I have no problems w/ it if taken properly by mostly healthy adults.

22. Nobody should take anything
without evaluating their own, personal medical issues as it might pertain to same.

Ephedra is a potent enhancement to one's metabolic limits. Any supplement containing ephedra should suggest any person that has conditions related to the heart, blood pressure, thyroid, diabetes or a current pregnancy.

NEVER exceed 75mg of ephedra alkaloids in a 24 hour period.

If the label doesn't suggest these things, I'd not touch it anyway, as they don't know what they're doing as is.

10. Only up to 10 mg. However,
folks can still sell any stash they had before the ban.

Usually, 25mg was the base amount of ephedra per serving.

Most supplement companies aren't getting back into the ephedra business, though. Insurance companies won't cover them for it, regardless of the dosage.

21. Not to sound like a broken record but I really wouldn't suggest it.
My workouts absolutely sucked when I stopped taking it but eventually I got back to where was and I feel a hundred times better now that I don't use it anymore. I never took more than the recommended dosage but after a few weeks of being on it regularly I'd eventually start to notice just how much and how often it was fucking with my heart. I'd be just sitting there 6 hours after a workout, exhausted and lying in bed trying to sleep yet my heart would be going ape-shit. Sometimes before I'd even get a workout started I could feel my heart pounding far harder than it does at any time during my hardest workouts now.

I understand that your anxious to get in shape especially now that you seem to have gotten the bug of working out but in my opinion it would probably be a lot better if you just stay away from that shit. I've found that my mind is by far the best energy booster I've ever tried. I know that sounds really lame but it's true.

I've heard this many times. Some companies that sell non-FDA regulated stuff should be shut down.

24. It's been 2 years since I've taken any but:
I started with this stuff that was simply called Thermodrine (blue and yellow label on a white bottle and I think it may have been called Xenadrine officially but I always just called it Thermodrine). That was by far the harshest one. I took that for a couple of years until I couldn't find it anymore. Then I took one that I don't remember what it was called but I remember picking it out because of the ephedrine in it (I think it was Ripped Fuel but I don't know if that name is just sticking in my head because that's the one my friend swore by for so long). My friend told me that the ephedra in it was what made the Thermodrine work so well because and at the time I was trying all sorts of diet supplements but couldn't find half the energy that was in the Thermodrine. Eventually I was able to find the Thermodrine again and so I bought a ton of it and used it until the supply was gone. When I needed more the only GNC I was able to find it at had stopped selling it so I just asked for the closest thing to it which I don't remember what it was called but it was just GNC's equivalent.

25. The ECA jack-stack
Ephedrine, caffeine and aspirin. Effective, but certainly warranted a monitoring of how much you were using.

Both Xenadrine and Twinlab's Ripped Fuel (and like-minded Diet Fuel) used the same sort of stack.
