I've got a phone interview tomorrow for a biostatistician job |
|
Wish me luck! This is with a company in Ann Arbor MI. I know biological statistical analysis, but I've worked most extensively with it in environmental fields. However, I have studied the ins and outs of statistics applied to a clinical setting too, and it should translate.

9. Well, I hate to leave Ohio, but I gotta eat... |
|
At least, if I do get this, it won't be far. Meetups would still be a possibility.

10. Yeah, we're not counting our chickens yet but we're very hopeful |
|
I know he's a great fit so I hope they'll figure that out too.
Plus, there are lots of small colleges in that area that I could apply to (as soon as I finish up this damn Ph.D.!!) to teach psychology.
For those of you who haven't heard, my college did not renew my contract so my last paycheck comes on May 31st. The story, in a nutshell, is that the interim Dean (here for one year while the college did a search for a permanent Dean) felt that I should have completed my Ph.D. this year - funny how hard that is to do when your advisor is on sabbatical in another state and you rupture a disc in your back.
Anyway, we're trying to be positive and look at this as an opportunity to move on to a place where EP can use his doctoral skills (can't do it in this tiny town we're in now - he's not a teacher so the college that employed me wasn't an option for him - they're small and don't spend much time on research). I'm not worried about being able to find a job once I complete my Ph.D. (which should be soon, depending on how available my advisor will be over the summer). I have excellent student evaluations and have lots of teaching experience under my belt (I've taught 12 different courses in psychology!). My department chair said she will write me an excellent letter of recommendation when I'm ready to job search, as did a fellow colleague with whom I worked on several campus events - he told me that every psych major he talked to who had me for class spoke very highly of my teaching and commitment to mentoring them.
Anyway, enough about me - here's to EP's phone interview!! I know he'll do great. :toast: :bounce:

16. Well, they went and bollixed it up |
|
Apparently the VP's secretary didn't update the VP's calendar to let him know that the interview was scheduled. So, I'm sitting around well after 2:00 wondering what the deal is and why they didn't call me. The placement company got in touch with him and we're re-scheduling for next week. Annoying, but far better than what I was afraid of-that maybe they just decided to go with someone else and didn't bother to let me know.
Maybe it's for the best-I was up until 4 am studying my stats stuff to refresh myself, so I'll have a couple days to relax (HA!) and re-absorb the material.
