Okay, where the frig did my 20s go?
Edited on Wed May-24-06 10:15 PM by HypnoToad
And why was I so introverted?

More importantly, why couldn't I have been born 11 years earlier?

2. I sometimes miss my twenties as well
If I could know what I know now and be in my twenties, that would truly rock.

3. Agreed entirely!

It would rock indeed.

Still, my post-aware self has not yet been able to break the barrier keeping me an introvert. With luck I shall be able to do so before too long. Being a normal conversationalist would be nice. A conformist. Nobody likes a wacky philosopher...

I have difficulty with social situations too!

7. Likewise!
:hi: :D

You're also that rare, special sort of person. Especially regarding mannerisms and sartorial taste, a uniqueness that transcends. :yourock:

12. When I met you at last fall's meet-up...
I thought you were very easy to talk with (in fact, I think I talked your ear off). The only problem I noticed was that the room was so loud that I couldn't hear all of what you had to say.

I'm also an introvert. I'm married to a super extrovert. He really, really doesn't understand why I don't like parties. I really really don't understand why he needs so much attention.

19. I know exactly how you feel...
I was painfully shy in my 20s (and even more shy in my teens!)... I just got so worked up over small things that it seems almost silly now. If I could have taken my post divorce attitude and had it throughout my late teens and 20s, I would have had a completely different life.

5. In a few months
I'll be wondering the same about my thirties. :-(

And I agree with KitchenWitch, I wish I had known then (heck, even in my early 30's) what I know now.

I guess life's for learning. ;)

10. i think that youth is a frame of mind
and I am reminded of it every time I see Pete and Toshi Seeger. They are in their 80's, yet are somehow young.

13. Do you see them, or 'see them'
They're amazing, no doubt about it.

Well, my mind is on a very different schedule than my body! lol Mind - young; body - old old old!

15. Um, I am not sure what you are asking
I see them with my eyes when they are out at the same place that I am at. I don't "see them" as in date them, as in I have a fetish for 80 year old couples - I don't "see them" that way!

16. Hey, it's a liberal board
Someone here is probably into that sort of thing...;)

I met 'see them' as in socially - do you know them, hang out in their circles, etc.

Anyway, Seeger is amazing.

17. we belong to some of the same groups (thanks for the clarification)
and they do hang out at my buddy Dan's house once in a while. I've never been to their house, although my buddy Dan always tells me that he will take me over to hang out.

Whenever I hang out with Dan, I usually end up watching him "play" a congo drum for hours on end.

So in short, they are not really friends of mine. I am more of a big fan of theirs.

Once, me and my ex were on our way down to see Arlo Guthrie at Carnegie Hall. Pete and Toshi got on the train at Peekskill. We gave them our seats. It turned out that they were playin with Arlo that night!

The last time that I "hung out" with Pete was at my church fundraiser. He sat down with me, Father Bill, some black poets / rappers and talked about how he got into music (as a career) and some of the royalty agreements that he has with record companies (one of the songs that he wrote was based on an African folk song. He gives some of the royalties to an African music center / not for profit).

peace u4ic. :)

9. The bank, the grocery story, the gas station...
OH...you mean age.

Nemmind then, carry on.

(and they do go fast -- the good news is that, even though the years pass, the experience doesn't. Don't look back...look forward to all that's still to come. The best really is ahead of you)

14. next time that you are out of town with some extra cash
put away the hypnotoad that you are comfortable with. Be something different. Buy a table of chicks a drink at a bar. Talk about your boat and tax cut. Try it out.

I am a political introvert (I enjoy solitude and reflection - I can work a room, but it takes effort). Be the change.

I am a social butterfly at a dead show. It was at a dead show that I gave up feeling sad, and... became... something... different... I didn't change, but cute hiipy girls would smile at me.

20. Toad...
they went the same place your 30's will go, and your 40's...and...and...

So enjoy life. It is too short. Today is the best day. Tomorrow will be better. What your body loses (and God knows it WILL lose) your mind gains.

24. I'm turning 27 in a few days.
It hit me about a month ago, when I was buying nicotine patches.

I actually questioned how old I was....what? I'm almost TWENTY-FREAKING-SEVEN years old????

Couldn't believe it. I'm not young anymore.
