I take it he was Native - and named for whatever was unusual about him at birth. (There was also a Milton Born With a Tooth who was infamous a few years back) Perhaps a port wine stain? Never met him, but registered his car when I was doing data entry eons ago.
I always felt bad for the guy. But that's my Eurocentric take on it - perhaps it's something to be proud of, what distinguishes you from others.

was the name of this sort of con man/motivational speaker who used to barge into our high school classrooms every couple of years and bullshit us on whatever power-that-is-within-you shit that he was selling that day.
I have the feeling he just toured the high plains, bullying school principals to give him $100 to scare some students in a randomly selected classroom for an hour or so.
I used to have some funnily named financial data salespersons, but they are nice who are still alive so I shouldn't name them. I will just say that one seemed to have been named after a Beatles song wherein a barber shaves another customer, and another's name reminds me of the Christian naming ceremony of a newborn lesbian prostitute.
It's a good life.

30. I'm turning my sister in... She named her kid ....Zuzu |
|
You know, after Zuzu in "It's a Wonderful Life"?....
In her defense I've gotta say this is her 5th biological child (she's adopted 2 and fostered 6) One of her biologicals died at the age of 27 months of cancer. She was 42 when she gave birth to this baby and it was planned. She's a schoolteacher and always went back to work w/her other kids. This time they set themselves up so she could be home.
History aside, the name Zuzu is kind of 'different'. Who knows; this could be good thing for the child. Maybe make her stand out. And since they've a very common last name, there is some mitigation there.
Still. I'd be afraid my kid, if named that, would have a rough time in school.

Edited on Thu May-25-06 10:18 AM by NewWaveChick1981
(I personally saw these. This is what you find when you work at college campuses for 20 years! LOL)
Women/girls (last names omitted unless they're too funny!):
Rotunda Jackie Booviea Kennedy (yes, it was spelled like that!) Mystery Bubble Douglas Nottingham (last name omitted; her mom REALLY wanted her to be a boy!) Jackie Blue
Men/boys (also last names omitted unless they're too funny!):
Bob White Peter Brady Shakeel Oneal (last name omitted; this was the son of one of our students and the name was spelled like that) Poor guy with the last name of Rape; he later changed it legally
There may be others that I've forgotten, but these are the best! :D
Edited to add: Forgot about the ones from high school! Went to HS with a guy named Dick Fuller (not short for Richard, but real name Dick), and it was much fun hearing the roll called each morning. :P Had a classmate whose uncle was named Ben Dover. Oh, and a girl with the last name of Tiddy. You can just imagine what that poor girl went through. Kids were teasing her about it all the time. Oh, and there was Precious Jade Stone...

I won't post her last name here, as I'd hate to invade the poor woman's privacy more than it already has been in this, the internet age. It is, nonetheless, a common (pedestrian, even) surname.
Suffice to say, she went to high school in the same town and at the same time as I went to college. She then attended a nearby state university (on scholarship).
Dunno how the name came about, but I guess her folks just named her after their two favorite things.

I worked with him at a place where radios were used to reach people. Everyone always just called for people by their first names - "hey Craig", "Jim are you there?", "Mike, call me" - stuff like that. But not with Harry Dix - the only Harry there. He ALWAYS got called with his first and last name. Too funny.
