How big is your list?
I haven't used the feature, but I like to ignore threads on occasion.

Your message shows up in my "My DU" and here in the thread as a response to my post, but in your message it's listed as a reply to "original message." Saaay... you're not Agent Mike, are you?

Anyway, my list is not big and you're not on it, obviously!

:)

3. Well, my dear mgdecombe.......
I don't have anyone on ignore right now....but I have.

And when I did, I did NOT feel any sympathy at all for them!

After all, having them on ignore meant (for me, anyhow) that I was pissed and/or upset with them.....

That does not work with sympathy!

:hi:

7. Dear Peggy
You are too nice for anyone to make you pissed or upset, so no, I don't have any sympathy for anyone who has merited your ignore list.

Personally, I haven't used it more that once for about 5 minutes.

4. Pity, yes ...

Sympathy, no.

Most of those I've ignored are no longer with us. I think two or three are there now, and I don't see their tracks, meaning they may be gone as well.

8. I've used the ignore thread feature, which I find useful
for some of the vanity kicking that goes on, but not so much the ignore user thing.

10. I know, I like to be mildly irritated now and again. It motivates me.
There certainly are threads that I don't click, and I've used the ignore thread feature, which I think is great!

12. Hmm...
I wonder if it's the same person I have on ignore?
Actually, I have 2 on ignore; and I haven't seen either of them lately.

There's one that I'm ignoring without actually relegating them to the list. I have high hopes they'll grow up soon. :D

18. I don't have anyone on ignore
There has been times that I was going to do it, but then if I did I wouldn't be able to see the stupid things they say. I feel more sorry for them when I read the crap than if I had them on ignore.

19. Yes; I hope they all grow to take politics seriously.
And I probably have the biggest ignore list (well over 700 people). One of my bigger pet peeves is when people use manipulative tactics like strawmen and snarkiness with no substance. Often I log out to see some of the posts I ignored and they're up to the same tricks. Some people just seem to use consistently low standards of rhetoric, and I came here to learn new things and have constructive discussion. The ignore feature helps out with focusing my time a little better.

23. I pulled one person from my ignore list, because
I couldn't remember what he'd done to offend me.

Generally, I tend to put the fuckwits of DU (proof that some Democrats are no brighter than some Republicans) on ignore.

24. Well kinda
but then I don't have anyone on ignore.

I did have this one guy on ignore on another board - because he was a right wing fascist monster. Then I realized I couldn't really argue with him if I didn't know what he was saying. And I did kinda feel sorry for him. Apparently pissing me off was his hobby and I was depriving him of the pleasure....

Khash.

I do use it for "probation" though. If someone's pissing me off, I'll put them on ignore for a few days until the incident is forgotten

27. Nope, no sympathy
With (I think) one exception, most of them weren't even being snarky or insulting to me, even. Sometimes I think about clearing it and starting over, but invariably I'll pop in to DU without logging in and see comments from one or more people on the list and realize that I should probably keep them on Ignore.

29. I've only put one person on "ignore" and that was only for...
a few weeks. He was a young man who had revoltingly sexist attitudes towards women, tended to be impulsively hostile and couldn't see beyond his nose. I reminded myself that he was young, but I had to take a break from his posts for a while.

There are a few people in GD that I don't think very highly of, but I don't see the point in putting them on ignore. If you let the people you disagree with dominate the discussion, your viewpoint won't be heard.
