Good Thursday Morning, Crew!

:donut::hi:
Welcome to the Thursday edition of the Early Morning Crew thread! :bounce: Well, we made it over the hump day and now we only have two work shifts until the weekend! :woohoo: I know we're ALL ready for it too! I hope you had a good day yesterday and it wasn't too stressful. I did...I went shopping and put off all the chores here at the house I SHOULD have been getting accomplished.

I found a copy of "Grease 2" on DVD for $6.00! :bounce: I LOVE that show! It's one of only two musicals I like and can watch over and over. The other is "A Chorous Line". As far as I'm concerned...the rest of them can go straight to hells!

I still haven't received a return phone call from Roxio. THAT adventure continues...

Our District Manager is supposed to be at our store today for another visit. I go in this afternoon to close, so she won't be there long after I get there. Maybe a couple of hours. It's always interesting when she comes to see the store.

So let's get this day started, my crew! :bounce: Time to rise and shine!

16. Oh, I saw LOTS of stuff I wanted...
But, I only went to purchase a new iron and a new slow cooker. I got those, of course. But I also looked at cell phones because I want a new one just because I'm tired of the one I have. I want the Motorola V557...but since I'm still under contract with Cingular, I'd have to pay full retail for it. $250.00. I couldn't make myself spend the money, so I'll just keep using the one I have.

So, how come this time it has just been me giving an answer then asking a question like this?

14. Good morning Clint.
:hi:

As always, good to see you.

Today was to have been a nice quiet day when I could have caught up on my filing &c. - but alas the fates have conspired against me, and an enormous pile of work arrived this morning...plus I need my desk to look tidy by the end of the day as the manager is in tomorrow (I'm not, I don't know if he knows, I don't really care if he doesn't bother to ask when I'm around it's not my fault).

It's always great to see you too, my friend! :loveya: I'm sorry your quiet day has been flung to the rocks below by all the work that arrived. Hopefully, it won't take TOO long to get it all done. Unless, of course, everything will take hours apiece to complete. x( I feel the same way about our DM visiting that you do about your boss. BUt then again, I'm not the General Manager.

23. The thing here is that we work well
in fact the three of us here are probably the most efficient part of the whole department (not blowing my own trumpet), so meetings with the manager are intensely boring and there's nothing he can actually do really (not least because he doesn't really know what we are doing :eyes:).

I have managed to find a sort of groove, so the work is passing fairly quickly at least. And I have the enchanting sounds of Judas Maccabeus by Handel to keep me happy too. :D

28. Hey, good music certainly helps!
Right now, we have a lot of jazz and new age playing at the store. In other words...elevator music. Luckily, the music changes monthly, so we don't have to put up with it for too long.

Hey, toot your own horn if you want! I do it too sometimes!

36. I suppose if it's not really busy listening to the music is all there is.
But jazz can be good - but if it's just the elevator muzak I'd find it most infuriating.

43. As a consumer
I'd much rather shop in places which don't play music. There have actually been times when I've been close to speaking to staff about music (when it's too loud or obnoxious) telling them that I won't shop there when it's like that (I would, of course, do so very politely).

51. I know how you feel...
there are some stores here in the U.S. (Abercrombie & Fitch, for example) that literally BLARE the music at top volume! I hate going into them too. We, however, keep the volume low so it's just quietly playing in the background.

57. All the roads around it have normal, boring names.
You're basically driving and you see North Road, Whaleback Waddy, River Road, Old Farber Hill road etc.

She's a beast about the vets. When she realizes where we're going she knows there will be shots and she fights me the whole way. Once the shots are over with and all the vet techs are loving her up and giving her treats she doesn't want to leave. :eyes:

117. Tidy is the very last thing that I am.
I'm only tidy when I want to waste time and so clear up.

Things are going well here (touch wood) as I'm actually getting work done (astonds me how much I can get done when I do manage to focus).

Caffeined up zombies are great fun - that's how I work when I've got a very heavy cold. Majorly strong coffee (even more so than usual) with lots of sugar (which I normally avoid like the plague) - work flies past, but at the end of it I feel a brazillion times shittier. :bounce: :bounce:

Hope that you're managing to kick arses around the office. :loveya:

83. Good Morning Clint!
am I tired this morning. Stayed up until 1:00 a.m. the night before, and last night up until 11:00. So needless to say the snooze went on a couple of times. Ahhh . . . but today is actually my Friday because I've got off tomorrow. Looking forward to sleeping in, not showering first thing and posting in my jammies. Now those are some goals don't you think?

Musicals? You didn't like Little Shop of Horrors? I think it's so stupid it's funny, and the music is kinda kewl too. Actually saw the original BW flick too.

Musicals are NOT inherently gay, so there's nothing to worry about. A week away! It's going to FLY by too. Then, you'll be going to your new place and building your new house! It's an exciting time, my dear! :loveya:

110. Then you'd better hold on tight to that license ...
You're supposed to like Barbra as much as you like musicals. Oh, and harleydad likes her Broadway Album from a zillion years ago. But I won't worry about that.

I could do with a little less excitement right now. The closing lawyer's office called the other day and said there was a lien against our house. Talk about scaring us to death! Then she wanted to check on harleydad's middle initial to see if he was the same person named in the lien ... NOT! Phew! We both have common names, so things like that happen pretty often. Still, it was scary. We've paid ALL our bills and done all the necessary maintenance, etc. The only thing that we thought might have happened was that we held out $200 from a house painter a few years ago to repair the damage he caused to our driveway and patio. But, thinking back on it, we don't think he wanted to call attention to himself. So we're still OK.

The builder is STILL waiting for an estimate from the window guys -- that's holding up the whole estimate on the house since the windows are such a big part of it. It won't delay the September start date, but it sure would be nice to have an idea how much it's going to cost. (Are we having fun yet?)

Oh, yes, and we did another trial run with the kitties in their harnesses yesterday. I called them all in for supper and told them only kitties with a harness on can eat. They all took it well except for Sashka. It paralyzes her so she can't move ... but she was able to make a beeline to the food dish. Next thing we knew, she was on the top kitty shelf out on the patio. Not bad for a cat who can't move!

98. Hi ya Clint!
I'll post photos on Monday of the 3 flower beds I've gotten cleaned out and planted at the farmhouse. Also, the small pasture next to my driveway will become home for 3 calves this weekend. The owner's nephew is in 4-H and these little guys will be there for the summer. :)

I've got a buddy in the yard - a silver Blue Racer snake I refer to as Casper or the Gray Ghost. We've reached an understanding. He goes where he wants and I stay out of his way! He's about 2 feet long and moves so fast...

How's the househunting going?
