This is one of the most unobtrusive ways to have REVENUE-GENERATING ads on a site - no blinking banners, no Flash, no popups - and do you remember when DU used to HAVE popunder ads? It wasn't THAT long ago.

than the 18 minutes of commercials we get per hour on our favorite teevee shows. (at least 9 minutes of which are for boner pills)

The ads are small drops of water in a very large DU ocean. If they can make EarlG and Skinner some money, more power to them. If Rush Limbaugh is worth $40 million per year, then the DU guys are worth about $964 quadrillion. If some of that $964 quadrillion comes from Google ads, so be it.
