Ok I saw DaVinci Code last night...and I have to say...
I thought it was excellent!!!

Not having read the book I suppose I had no pre-conceived notions about what the movie should look like, but it really held my attention...

I though Hanks and Tatou were very good...but the real stars were Paul Bettany and Ian McKellan. Jean Reno was excellent as well....

I alsways know when a movie is good because I am disappointed when it ends...I definitely felt that way about this one.

The critics who are bashing this movie are out of their minds as far as I'm concerned. I'm gonna go see it again!

2. I loved it!
I don't understand why it's gotten such bad reviews.

12. i think that was fueled by the 'if its not catholic its CRAP' lobby...
plus people wanted it to fail cause they didn't think of it or some such

3. For whatever reason, the critics were
determined not to like it. It's almost like it was perceived as anti-religious and can't "go there" in today's climate.

I went to a 4:20 show yesterday. The theatre was packed - and it was playing on two screens. Most of the moviegoers were older couples who probably haven't seen a movie out in a long time. I'm glad that in spite of the critics, people are seeing and enjoying this film. It's obviously getting good word of mouth. I thought it was way better than most of the crap foisted on the public these days that gets glowing reviews.

5. I agree -- no one wants to approve of a movie that
might offend the fundies.

Haven't seen the movie, though I think I might this coming week. So many people are enjoying it, perhaps it's not "Casablanca" or "Citizen Kane" but a movie doesn't have to be a cinematic masterpiece to be fun to watch.

10. my father said the EXACT same thing
they saw it last weekend and told me that the critics (especially those that panned it as 'not exciting enough') were simply intellectual midgets

4. What impressed me about it...
Edited on Sun May-28-06 10:37 AM by GloriaSmith
was that I wasn't disappointed even though I read the book. That's not easy.

Did the people in your theater laugh at the Smart Car too? They're so cute!

8. I was only disappointed in the ending
Without spoiling the book for those who have not read it and want to-I thought Sophie would meet up with someone who she thought was dead. I wasn't the only one who felt that way-two other ladies who attended the same show I did thought they remembered the ending that way too.

Otherwise, I really liked it. It stayed fairly true to the book and I thought Hanks and Tatou were great. Also loved Sir Ian!

9. I know what you mean and I agree
I don't know why that wasn't included in the movie. At first I thought it was the person who locked the door but nothing was explained.

That's vague enough not to be a spoiler, right?

6. I enjoyed it in the main
But I did feel it dragged a little in places.I didn't think there was much chemistry between Hanks and the Sophie character. But I always love seeing Jean Reno in any movie, same for Sir Ian. :)

7. I saw it Friday night and I liked it too.
I don't want to don a :tinfoilhat: but I believe there was a concerted PR effort by the vocal, extreme religious (as well as the Catholic Church) in this nation to discredit the film. I saw it right after I saw X-Men III - it was a head and a half better!

These are the same assholes who became wrankled over gay penguins.
