Poll question: What Precautions Will You be Taking On 6/6/6?
06/06/06: Another Date with Para-Science

If you're just a bit more cautious on a Friday the 13th, wouldn't fly on 9/11 or could never live in a house numbered 666, you are not alone.

With 06/06/06 looming (June 6, 2006), authorities in some cities are worrying prophecy theorists or hate groups might read something ominous into the date and use it as an excuse to stir tension. Sone expectant mothers are making birthing appointments to ensure they avoid the date, according to the Sunday Times in London.

And for others, it is a marketing opportunity. 20th century Fox's remake of "The Omen" and Ann Coulter's book, "Godless: The Church of Liberalism," will come out on June 6.

The Beast. The number 666 is used to refer to the beast in the Bible's Book of Revelations.

Whew! The Beast, bad horror movie remakes, a new Ann Coulter book, what an awful day! What precautions will you be taking to ensure your survival during a day fraught with such terrible evils?

13. i know people hate this one
but i love the third one. It is flawed, but i think the scariest of them all, especially the scene with the boy scouts and nurses and everyone participating with the anti christ.....that bad boy Damien.

2. I think we can thank the media if something goes down on that day
And, of course, evangelical Christians, for bringing up the so called significance of June 6. Technically it's 2006, not 6! LOL Or 6606... Not quite the same...

I wish a horror movie besides The Omen was coming out. How many times can they rehash the same boring tale?!

3. I'll be too busy partying it up to worry.
We have graduation practice in the morning, then we go for a picnic, then we go home for a couple hours and get ready for the real thing, then we have a huge all night bash until six in the morning.

11. Celebrating the "National Day of Slayer" of course!!!
http://www.nationaldayofslayer.org/

Excerpt:

Official Statement on Participation
Listen to Slayer at full blast in your car.
Listen to Slayer at full blast in your home.
Listen to Slayer at full blast at your place of employment.
Listen to Slayer at full blast in any public place you prefer.
DO NOT use headphones! The objective of this day is for everyone within earshot to understand that it is the National Day of Slayer. National holidays in America aren't just about celebrating; they're about forcing it upon non-participants.

Taking that participation to a problematic level
Stage a "Slay-out." Don't go to work. Listen to Slayer.
Have a huge block party that clogs up a street in your neighborhood. Blast Slayer albums all evening. Get police cruisers and helicopters on the scene. Finish with a full-scale riot.
Spray paint Slayer logos on churches, synagogues, or cemeteries.
Play Slayer covers with your own band (since 99% of your riffs are stolen from Slayer anyway).
Kill the neighbor's dog and blame it on Slayer.

12. Doesn't seem to be making any differences around here
I schedule appointments for my pest control company, and no one has objected to having us come on the 6th. In fact, no one has even mentioned the date as having any special significance. I work in a conservative town with a large fundy population, too.

June sixth is my wedding anniversary, I think we'll be celebrating out at a nice restaurant. 06062006 is not 666. If it were, I wouldn't give a hoot anyway. But if you believe such BS, it's appropo that Ann's book comes out on 666 since it's sure to be a spewing of hatred with evil intentions from the dark side.

25. Beast's real mark devalued to '616'

Satanists, apocalypse watchers and heavy metal guitarists may have to adjust their demonic numerology after a recently deciphered ancient biblical text revealed that 666 is not the fabled Number of the Beast after all.

A fragment from the oldest surviving copy of the New Testament, dating to the Third century, gives the more mundane 616 as the mark of the Antichrist.

Ellen Aitken, a professor of early Christian history at McGill University, said the discovery appears to spell the end of 666 as the devil's prime number.

"This is a very nice piece to find," Dr. Aitken said. "Scholars have argued for a long time over this, and it now seems that 616 was the original number of the beast."

. . . more

But I'll be keeping my sneakers in the car in case I have to walk home due to something bad happening. I also have a case of water in there and camping equipment. No, we're not freaks. We're just prepared for everything.
