and the whole junkie drug culture has got to go. There's some scumbags in my neighborhood that I actively encourage the police to go after and rid our neighborhood of their scourge. They also love to steal, and pimp whores besides selling meth and crack.

6. Eh, nothing really.... |

I'm not in trouble or anything, it just sucks that we can't be on the 'same side'. Even if most of them aren't bad, they all stick together and defend the bad ones, which lets racism and police brutality go unchecked. Plus the whole thing with arresting protesters and herding us like cattle into 'free speech zones'. I guess the reason I was thinking about it was because my cousin is planning to join the NYCPD.

3. Sometimes it's just how you look |

I can't speak for Black, Asian or Latin minorities as my State is the "whitest" State in the nation, but cops still have their target groups among us. Fortunately, I'm not one of them but my husband was for many years. (We're in our 40's now, but in his 20's and early 30rties, he got stopped for no reason- often) He's of Native American descent. Eastern Natives are rare due to the many diseases brought here from Europe, plus up here where I live, the French/American war where Native Americans were pawns of both sides. The point of all this is that because the uniqueness of his appearance, he was often targeted.
I got pulled over onetime for in-proper lane change. It was true, being tired and too dumb/young to realize it, changed lanes improperly. The cop, once he saw me and my blonde sleeping 4 yr. old in the car seat, looked at my hubby and yelled at him to get out of and put his hands on the car. I have no explanation for this. I was driving but they didn't ask to see my info. They were so rough with him that he had bruises. Other then that nothing came of the whole thing.
Another time, I went out with "the girls". My daughter was with her dad, and hubby was bored home alone. So he -get this- hired a taxi-driver to take him to the bars in our old 1983 Lincoln Town car. He did nothing wrong. Yet just before the bar and all alcohol sales end at 1am here in Maine, he picked up a 6 pack and climbed into the back seat. His hired driver (an actual taxi driver) started to leave but was pulled over. This is a small town and the cops knew the taxi driver, so they didn't bother with him. They made my guy get out of the car. They said he was being "belligerent" because he didn't want to get out. So they pulled him out. They again were very rough judging by the bruises. He was not charged with anything.
I wanted him to press charges, but hubby, said it'd be a waste of money. He has no criminal background BTW... Nothing, Nada. I think it pisses me off more then it does him. Why do people put up with this sort of treatmeant?
I don't blame you for not wanting to be enemies with the police. But it appears that sometimes you can't help it. :-(

When formal means are a waste of time, the only alternative is subversion. There are probably a lot of things he'd rather spend his life on.

Puck the folice!!
If the folice (fascist police) get on your case, then call your city council member on them, and take an ACLU lawyer with you. Stick it to da man!
