My brother finished radiation Friday
He called me a few months back, quite upset. He's 25, and is living in a state where there is no family. He noticed that his left testicle was quite a bit larger than his right, did online research, and concluded that it was likely that he had cancer. He was right. After consulting with a urologist and several tests, he was told that there was definately a mass in his left testicle, and that the testicle would have to be removed. He had the surgery, and my parents flew up to take care f him while he recovered. The biopsy showed that it was cancer for sure, and the mass was so huge that it alone was bigger than the right testicle. He banked sperm before the radiation, then started three and a half weeks of radiation. He's finally done, but it seems to him like the rampant shits will never stop.

Guys - Check yourselves! My brother caught his early before it spread, but if you don't check, you may not know that it's there.

4. Thanks
We all are! It's been rough, but he's been allowed to work from home during the radiation, and will continue to do so for a few more weeks until he's up to speed.

5. It was freaky, for sure
He's always been the healthy one...but he seems to be doing OK. Of course, I can only talk to him on the phone, but he sounds good. There were a few days in there that weren't so great, but overall, he's done very well.

3. Wow. I'm so glad he caught it when he did.
And I hope the radiation's effects subside very soon. He must be a strong guy.

6. He is incredibly strong
I talked to him earlier today, and he said he was feeling pretty good, as long as he took Immodium.

8. The only thing that worries us is
He was told by his oncologist that getting radiation at such a young age could cause him problems later in life, like more serious cancers. For now, we are all thankful that the surgery went well and so far there are no signs that the cancer spread.

9. I guess the only thing one can think about that is that at least
he has a second chance, and that he has been made aware that there might be problems down the road. I've often thought about that... once you've been diagnosed with cancer life is never the same. It is amazing, though, how people overcome what seem to be very frightening circumstances, and live on strong and happy. I wish that for your brother.

10. He sees that, and so do I
My parents are quite concerned that he shouldn't have done the radiation, but I told them to back off. He did his homework along the way, and was very informed by the time it got to the radiation. The good news is that his fertility wasn't affected, and he was able to bank his little swimmers before they blasted him. Of course, he swears he's never having children, but that's subject to change.

11. LOL. Yes, it is subject to change!
He's a male. He can be forgiven for having his doubts at this time.

12. LOL
His current reasoning is that he's met my children. He loves them, but they are a challenge!
