So, today, my tweleve year old son announced
That his balls are hairy. Isn't that special? He's thrilled with his pubic peach fuzz. I see a growth spurt in his future. Considering that he's already almost as tall as I am, I am not looking forward to the spurt, but he's eating me out of house and home, so I know it's coming. He's been anxiously awaiting puberty, and now tells such wonderful stories about how his wang is so huge it hangs to his knees. :eyes:

1. oh
just your phrasing is very funny.

I'm hoping not to have this type of conversation with my son any time soon. There are SOME things I would rather not know.

carry on. :)

2. I have to laugh...
Otherwise I'd lose my mind. I declined his offer to show me the fuzz. Believe me, I have had to have many a conversation with him that I wasn't really ready for...I had those parents who didn't tell you anything, I had to learn all about becoming a woman at school, and then my mom wouldn't talk to me about it. I am determined that if a question is asked, I will answer it. If an issue is raised, I will address it. So far, so good....I think!

5. yes you are right
it's just amazing what kids will tell you and, at times, won't tell you. ;)

7. So true
I'd rather them tell me what's going on in their heads...which my son does without any problem. My daughter, on the hand, is the secretive one.

4. LOL
I'm really not looking forward to explaining to my daughter about her aunt Flow coming to visit every month. I'd take telling the boychild that he CAN get out of bed in the morning, even if it IS standing up anyday over that. She can't wait to get boobs. Poor thing, she doesn't understand how these things work. The women in my family all hold seats on the Itty Bitty Titty Committee...Boobs are a pipe dream!

6. Oh god.
On one hand I want my son to be comfortable telling me anything, but on the other I really hope that by the time he's that age (he's five now) he'll realize that there are some things I'm not so comfortable hearing and go tell another guy about his pubes instead.

Gee, and to think I was sure I'd dodged the bullet puberty-wise in having a boy.

8. You have dodged no bullets
My son is an Aspie, and really doesn't get that there are some things that shouldn't be talked about. Maybe yours won't be so vocal. (You can hope!)

13. just hint in front of his friends.
I have one thing I can get a "MOM!" at if I mention it. Not that thing, but another to share. "mom, how old do I have to be before I can make bubbles when I pee?" (must've been 5ish) Stopped me cold and stumped me for a while, finally had to ask what he was talking about and figured he had to be tall enough.

11. Heh...I've got a son the same age,
only mine doesn't discuss his...he just wears boxers and...well...

...he doesn't need to announce the status of his development.

He does turn a really pretty shade of pink when you suggest he either sit up straight or put on pants, though.

*insert proper concerned parental expression here ---->X*

My thirteen-year-old is still waiting for body hair, so he says. I figure it's an all-inclusive statement & that your son is more physically mature (!)

Men. Boys. Same damn thing.

26. LMAO!!! Oh Lord, my son is 13
with the highest pitched voice ya ever did hear. I've ribbed him for years how excited we will all be when his voice changes.:D

He has an incredible sense of humor, and likes to go as low as his small voice will let him to say he plans on sounding like "Chef" from South Park before it's all done. No doubt, it would be ironic as hell!

27. Great, memories of 6th grade flooded back into my mind...
I never talked like that  but plenty of other kids did, and too many of them sat next to me in class... Worst of all, I remember what they were saying despite not understanding it at the time!

28. Man, I was fifteen before I saw anything happening down there.
My mom was one of those moms who was happy to explain it all in excruciating detail at the slightest provocation, so therefore me and my siblings never had to ask about anything, nor did we want to for fear of setting her off.

I could probably recite my mom's "normal penis size" lecture today because it was seared into my brain as she gave it to me and a mixed group of teenagers.

Oh no! My mom is talking about penises and I'm sitting next to a girl!
