Is DragonForce serious?

I grew up around the formation of the power metal years, not being a fan but an observer of bands like Fates Warning, Gamma Ray, Crimson Glory, Sanctuary/Nevermore and of course, if you want to lump them in there, Dream Theater.

I think this is supposed to be going off of the vibe of Hammerfall, Iced Earth and Edguy, but is this group serious or are they supposed to be this flatulent, wankery and cheeseball? I mean, their goddamned RIFFS are solos. WTF?

It's a little over the top, even for them, but it beats the shit out of so-called metal "bands" like Slipknot, Marlyn Manson, Korn, Shadows Fall, and the rest of that Ozzfest Diarrhea.

They used to have Neurosis, Sepultura and Voivod . . . now they have Avenged Sevenfold, Bury your Dead and Atreyu? What's metal about THAT?

Having had the unfortunte experience of seeing ALL of those crapola acts (except Shadows Fall, they're just above average), yes Dragonforce is far superior. But they're still cheesy. Slipknot especially, they are one HORRIBLE live act. At least 4 of their members are unnecessary.
