Help! Help! How do I do a screen capture and save it to disk?

I'm really dumb about this. I did it once but have forgotten how. Please take pity and help me out. :hi:

1. Hit the print screen button

then open up your photo editing program, open a new file, paste into the new file then save it.

2. I don't seem to have a photo editing program. I can hit the print

screen button ok, but is there another way to save the image? I know I did it before but I can't seem to do it now. Thanks for the help.

3. If you're running windows...

...go to "all programs" in the start menu, then choose "accessories", then "paint". You can paste the image in that program and save it as a file.

6. Thanks to all who responded. I think it WAS the paint option I used

last time. Also, it seems if I hit the "print screen" I have a HP printscreen option come up and I can save the screen using that. I just don't have any edit capability, yet. I'm stuck with the whole page. I'm making progress, though, thanks to all of your help.

4. Hit "File", then "SAVE PAGE AS" if you use Firefox
