Sometimes it sucks to live in the Middle East
I am finally getting my driving license after living overseas for three years, because the man who usually drives my kids to school won't be back with us next school year. I've put it off this long because of roundabouts, which scare me beyond reason. Still, the girls have to go to school, and I really do have to be able to drive myself around. The part that really sucks? I have to have a letter of permission from my husband to be able to get the license. Now he thinks this is really funny, but I'm much less amused. It really is crazy. We have women doctors, dentists, professors, businesswomen, librarians, etc, and if they are married, they all have to have permission letters from their husbands to drive.

There are, of course, other things I don't like about living here, but this is happening right now and it's bothering me badly.

2. My husband wandered over to read my post while I was
writing and it finally hit him that yes, it does bother me. Not that he teases me about it (we tease each other a lot) but because it just ain't right.
