1. Every time I drive by a particular kudzu field that's just off the
highway, I feel all warm inside. It smells like grapes, and it makes me glad that DU has its very own kudzu. Like the kind off the highway, DU's kudzu has taken root and won't go away, no matter how hard we try to kill it. It's here to stay.

:P

2. I grew up with Kudzu
I never realized what it was - we just called it ivy.

Our home was built on the base of a small mountain in rural PA so we had a small backyard cutout for us that connected to the incline of the hill. Some backyards went straight from backyard to hill whereas ours actually had a small brick wall about 3 feet high that 'held back' the hill from our yard. Then the small section of our hill was filled with pine trees and an ivy that grew everywhere. Our parents maintained the ivy so that it wouldn't overtake the wall & backyard nor creep into the neighbor's yard.

I never realized until now that the Ivy was actually Kudzu. I loved that backyard with the Ivy hill behind it - it was so pretty!

3. The Kudzu thread is
like a clingy friend who is always around. The type of friend who creeps into your life with sticky tendrils which capture you and and try to smother you. Sometimes you wish they would just go away. But sometimes, they make you smile, and you're glad they're there.
