Common Foods, condiments, beverages you find utterly sickening?
Edited on Tue May-30-06 09:09 AM by HughBeaumont
For me it's the following:

Coffee. I'm probably one of like 5 people on this earth that doesn't drink it. I can't even do it occasionally. I think it tastes and smells nauseating besides it not being very good for you.

Cheese pastry of any kind. Eccch. I'm not a huge fan of excessive melted cheese to begin with, but loading it in pastry is like putting fish in chocolate to me. Doesn't taste or smell right. Pastry should just have frosting or fruit filling and that's it. No melted cheese.

Mayonnaise. I love Ranch, chipotle mayo, Dijonnaise, and mayo-based stuff, whatever .. . I cannot eat straight mayo. Something about it makes me gag and spit it out instantly. Same goes for Miracle Whip.

Cottage Cheese. No other way to describe it other than the fact it smells like socks.

Black licorice. Too harsh a taste for candy.

Banana peppers.

2. My foods that disgust me:
Coconut in any form...from foods to sunscreen to hair products.

Tuna casserole - had to smell it on Fridays in 4th grade when my class was directly over the school kitchen.

Apricots - I'm not overly fond of them.

3. swordfish is unbelievably disgusting; papaya is horrible too...
Dunno why so many people love swordfish.

Shark is similarly inedible.

Ground turkey -- I got it in my head somehow that this is really ground-up human, and so I can't even look at that stuff.

You're right about cottage cheese, very nasty indeed. Ricotta, however, is actually good.

Papaya -- retch!

Anything that mixes fruit and mayonnaise.

Buckwheat porridge.

Moxie -- bitter and syrupy sweet, sure to trip your gag reflex.

Stevia, the natural miracle sweetner the FDA doesn't want you to have :eyes: -- even the processed stuff is bitter as quinine, and induces gagging.

4. Mustard sickens me
I never eat hamburgers at McDonalds, because I have to wait to get one without mustard on it. I'm big on "Have it your way", so I eat my monthly grease fest at BK instead (I find it's better to give in once a month than have to crave the stuff).

I hate cucumbers, radishes, peas, broccoli, cauliflower and pretty much all vegetables with the following exceptions: Spinach, onions, greens, celery, peppers and corn. I eat a lot of spinach to make up for the lack of other vegetables.

That new sweetner that's in some Diet Coke is awful. I'll stick with nutrisweet/aspartame, since it has no bad side effects for me.

13. I hate the taste of A1
I use HP sauce. I actually found it here in the USA after being sorely disappointed not seeing it in my grocery store. I grew up on the stuff!

A Meijer store in Ann Arbor has it in the 'ethnic' foods section. My sister sends it to me from Canada.

Edited on Tue May-30-06 09:55 AM by NewWaveChick1981
I can tolerate it in things like Ranch dressing, but I cannot and will not eat straight mayo or Miracle Whip (which is actually worse than mayo IMO!). :puke:

Turnips---make me gag. :puke:

Gravy biscuits---those are common around here, but the mere idea nauseates me. I don't particularly care for gravy anyway, but big wads of bready biscuits smothered in a thick, white gravy.... YUCK!!! :puke: I know people who love it---so let them have it!

French toast---toast dipped in eggs and then fried? No thanks. :puke:

Edited to say: How could I forget soft-scrambled eggs? OMG, these are so slimy and gross... :puke: I like scrambled eggs, but they HAVE to be firm and dry and COOKED....

in my 45+ years of life, i have consumed a total of less than 1/2 cup of coffee- i think that i've had like 5 or 6 sips at various times- mostly just to humour someone. i just can't get past the vile taste.

i don't drink alcohol at all anymore, but when i did- it was never beer...i usually drank scotch.

and i agree- mayo is disgusting.

At McDonalds you can always ask for a PLAIN hamburger - that is minus ketchup, mustard, and pickles. If you like the onion you can say only onion. McDonalds will do it your way too - just like BK.

19. Twinkies, Miracle Whip, Oreo filling, white chocolate, buttercream
frosting, even most milk chocolate. Most things on my list are just too sweet. There's no flavor except grease and sugar. Chocolate should taste like chocolate, not sugar, which is why most milk chocolate is too much for me. And white chocolate is just vile. Gack. And real buttercream frosting is okay, but the kind you get at most bakeries is disgusting. Don't even get me started on Twinkies. Those things are actually toxic when they are first baked. And I don't think they improve much with time.

Lastly, I reserve my utter hatred for Miracle Whip. Miracle Whip is the most disgusting substance on the grocery shelf as far as I'm concerned. *shudder*

I've always hated it--when I was a kid and I saw it on a sandwich, I'd throw a tanturm to put a toddler to shame! Cottage cheese, sour cream--in fact the only white, gelatinous glop I like is yogurt--and I LOVE LOVE LOVE that. (overcompensation?)

I'm from the age when picnic food was a disgusting Jello mold with cottage cheese and carrot shavings. Man, that is food in Dante's 7th circle of HELL! Jello is so disgusting I can't believe that they give it to sick people. It's made from the hooves of cattle and horses!
