2. Thank you, miss.
This one has a personal connection with me. I played George, Duke Of Clarence in a community production of "Richard III", and was onstage when Richard utters this line. The 'we' means Richard and Clarence, as Richard explains his conversation with Clarence to the Constable of the Tower; Clarence is being taken to the Tower for taking sides against the ruling King, Edward IV.

5. No rush. It's Shakespeare's second-longest play.
And the body count is pretty high.

It has some mind-boggling writing, though. Shakespeare convinces us that Richard III can successfully seduce a woman right over the very body of her husband (whom Richard himself has murdered!) What other writer could have the audacity to do that?

Richard: Bid me farewell.

Anne: 'Tis more than you deserve;
But since you teach me how to flatter you,
Imagine I have said farewell already.

Amazing stuff.

7. I've packed up most of my books
but I left my huge Riverside Shakespeare out, so maybe I'll start on it next. Thanks.

10. and some more
An if it please thee! why, assure thee, Lucius,
'Twill vex thy soul to hear what I shall speak;
For I must talk of murders, rapes and massacres,
Acts of black night, abominable deeds,
Complots of mischief, treason, villanies
Ruthful to hear, yet piteously perform'd:
And this shall all be buried by my death,
Unless thou swear to me my child shall live.

Titus Andronicus Text: Act V, Scene 1

12. Kick
John Gielgud (sp?) gave a perfect Clarence in Olivier's Richard III. Of course, if Richard hadn't been killed at Bosworth Field, you wonder if history, and Shakespeare, would have seen him very differently. History being written by the victors and such.
