Watched "Jarhead" over the weekend. |
|
Wow. Great movie.
It was a very "as it was" story, which may turn off some who are opposed to war, but I thought it was exceptionally done.

1. I wanted to see it, but just haven't gotten the chance yet! |
|
Now I will make a point to rent it!

2. I really enjoyed it too |
|
I had heard some complaints about the fact that there's very little actual combat/action in the film, but I thought that was part of the point.
Really showed the futility of war.

3. The ending was very anticlimactic, |
|
especially when Dennis Haysbert's character scrubbed their sniper mission at the last second. Considering Desert Storm was pretty much over by the time the troops hit the ground, it was to be expected.

4. I liked it more then I thought I would. |
|
I can see why some freeps don't like it, because it was a fair and balanced telling of one solder's experience.

5. Oooh, "fair and balanced".... |
|
shame on you! :P
You're right, though- they pretty much left politics out of it altogether.

6. I watched "Baghdad ER" on Friday |
|
Not nearly as gorey as I thought it would be (aside from the 3:00 and 18:00 marks). A really good look at the day to day life (and death) in the Combat Support Hospital.

7. I'm really hoping this lives up to the book, which I thought was excellent |

I'm waiting for the DVD to come down in price because I want to play it with Swofford's commentary track at somepoint down the line & I resent having to pay £4 to rent something I'm going to buy.

8. From what I have heard, |
|
it's pretty faithful to the book.
The only continuity error I saw was with the soundtrack. There's one scene, during a Christmas party, where they are all jamming to "OPP," which wouldn't get big for another year. That's just because I am a trivia geek, though. :)
