4. Well, season 3 is where it starts to go from satire to outright grossness. |
|
What with the first female orgasm on national TV (it wasn't Peggy), an episode revolving around buying bras, and the "lost" episode FOX wouldn't air at the time because it was too overt...
(it's all hilarious, semi-raunchy stuff... but it does push the envelope, and it got Rupert Murdoch on the map. And the show never got a proper finale either... a shame, given how it elevated FOX...)

where Peggy found out she didn't graduate because she needed a home ec credit, so she enrolled in Kelly's class, and Marcy came over while Peggy was doing her homework and got all excited thinking about baking?
"Riiiiise.... riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiise..."
Best MWC line ever:
Marcy (at door, sniffing): "Is Al home?"
Peggy: "No, Marcy. I'm cookin' feet for dinner."

9. LOL - but, nope. That's the one where Al sweats the silhouette of Elvis |
|
on his shirt.
Marcy talks about Elvis' pelvis and so on (whew boy, that redefines lewd on TV!), and voila...

11. A brilliantly lowbrow show. |
|
And one of the few sitcoms that got better later on, IMO.

12. Two words: Ed O'Neill |
|
He was brilliant as Al. The downtrodden who always gets back up. And much like Jackie Gleason's Ralph Kramden, he really does love his wife. He just doesn't like to show it.

My heart broke for her when she came back after the stillbirth. She is an incredible actress... and an incredible woman.
