Anyone else here have no cell phone coverge in their area? |
|
It pisses me off :grr:. The one time I owned one, US Cellular charged me for "roaming" in my own home! I had gotten the thing because I did government work in remote(r) areas of Maine and drove an old car. This was in case of emergencies. They charged me for the whole State, but I couldn't get it in anywhere I went. It wasn't the phone, it was them and we still have no towers around here. I should have asked for my money back! :spank:
Sorry, but I had to vent. Is there anyone else here with no coverage?

1. Madison, NJ was like that up until a year and a half ago. |

It was absurd. It's a rich town in a pretty populated part of north-central Jersey. There was almost no cell coverage anywhere in town and it was my only phone. I used to joke that in order to talk on the phone I had to stand in the north-east corner of my fire escape while facing south-west and holding out my left arm and my right leg.

but try having an area about the size of NJ (I used to live in T-Town) and RI COMBINED with no freakin coverage? Sorry, I don't mean to take it out on you, but it's scary sometimes 60 miles from the nearest house, 90 from a daytime gastation and your car breaks down. You try to sleep and cope. The cool thing is that bear become totally unafraid at night when there is no movement. I even got bear snout marks on my car and saw a pair of Moose having a lovesfest. So it wasn't all bad.
But I'm still pissed. If I'm paying for Statewide coverage I should have gotten it. Worse my daughter and hubby were worried sick.
BTW- How far from~ The Land Of Make Believe? I Loved that place as a kid!

Roughly half an hour from where I live now. I went there a couple times growing up. Got in trouble with the lifeguards once for hitting a kid in the giant kiddie pool (he was hassling my younger sister).
One of my former coworkers lives up in Hope, NJ but we all prefer to say that Frank lives in the Land of Make Believe. I mean, he is a middle-aged Republican with dreadlocks that drives a VW bus. Aside from the Republican thing, he's a pretty cool guy though.

4. I don't know what it's like now |
|
But every Fall, just shortly before Halloween we used to go there. It's amazing to think going through Hedge Mazes, finding our way up to Santa Claus through this dark cool winding maze-like building, and going to Jenny-Jump Mtn was so mystically awesome. Kids now don't know what they are missing!
And of course the ride itself was always fun. Dad would speed up just right for the little hills in the road in order to get that ....whooops.... kind of feeling in our bellies. Anyone who says NJ is ugly hasn't really seen it. To bad for them :-)
