Probably one of the hardest things I've ever had to do
Last week my daughter got in trouble on the last day of school. This morning the police came to the house to cite her. She was so terrified she was shaking and I stood there silently. I wanted so badly to make it all go away but I didn't. I couldn't. And it was the hardest thing in the world.

3. Thanks...
My kids only Think I'm a mean, evil mom. Underneath, I'm a marshmallow. It hurts when your kids do something stupid and you know that the best thing for them is to Not help them out of the mess they've made for themselves.

2. Just a citation?
What's the big deal? Does it even go on her permanent record?

Heck, look on the bright side, at least she wasn't arrested!

5. You did the right thing

Eventually she'll realize it. It won't be for a number of years...

My father was always covering up for his grandson (my nephew). He was always getting into trouble, and my father was always bailing him out (his mother and father divorced when he was 2, and hadn't heard from him since).

That kid doesn't have a straight bone in his body. He never has to suffer any consequences, because grandpa's always there to take the fall (and I do mean that, holy crap, at least 5 digit figures, even his credit rating). The kid is a manipulative shit (he's 22), and won't learn until he has to deal with consequences.

Not while my father is still alive he won't. (and he helped create that monster, too...even longer story)
