Good Wednesday Morning, Crew!

:donut::hi:
Welcome to the Hump Day edition of the Early Morning Crew thread! :bounce: I'm back on track after a horrible night on Monday going into Tuesday with the end result being no Crew thread yesterday morning. x( I AM sorrry about that. I guess that sort of thing happens to the best of us, but it was sure NO fun. I hope you had a better day than me!

Since I've been in charge at the store, I've been one busy boy. Being pulled in all four directions at once, having questions thrown at me constantly and a huge sale event to prepare for and set has been tough, let me just tell ya. At least I get another manager back today to help. :woohoo: It would have made it easier if I had more staff to help get things done, but we've been working with bare bones coverage and I've had to do most of it myself. It's okay though...retail is that way sometimes.

So...here we are at Wednesday. The week will be half over once we make it through today's shift! :bounce: And I'm off tomorrow! :woohoo: I hope your week so far has been an easy one! The weekend is approaching fast and I know we're ALL looking forward to THAT! I have another 9 day vacation coming up too, the week of the 19th, so I'm REALLY looking forward to that day! :bounce:

Are you ready to get this day started? Well, let's get it on! :woohoo: Rise and shine, my crew! :bounce:

instead of putting them on the truck. The electricity is supposed to be turned on already and the cable is supposed to be installed on Monday. So I'm figuring Tuesday at the latest, assuming everything runs smoothly. I still won't be at my normal level of activity until I get my new laptop (:bounce:) and get the house settled.

Meanwhile, I'll keep things hooked up as long as I can. I can just see myself sitting on the floor in front of my computer, Schroeder-style.

5. Good morning Clint
this morning is rather hectic here. Or was, as we almost have lunch break now. But I enjoy those days as well.

Today our institution is voting a new staff association (right word) and I was so crazy to letmyself being nominated for the election. When I decided to do it I thought it would be an interesting experience and new challenge. Now that I decided that I want to move to London sooner or later I hope I am not getting elected.

Yesterday I sent off an application for a position in London at the Goethe-Institut. I don't know if you heard of that. The Goethe-Institut is working worldwide to bring the German language and culture to other countries. I think I have good chances. At least I hope so.

10. Good morning Miss Honeychurch.

The Goethe Institut sounds like the ideal job for you in London. We certainly need a real presentation of good German culture to us, most of it's an horrific stereotype :eyes:

Best of luck with your application.

one of my best friends called me yesterday (he is a librarian as well). I told him about the position offered and read to him my coverletter. He found it good. If there would have been anything that wasn't good, he would have told me.

I would love to get that position. It is different to what I do now, so it is quite challenging. So please cross your fingers for me.

They would be very lucky to have you work for them, and very smart if they realize it! I will be keeping you in my thoughts regarding it.

mr. swim and I have been very active in our neighborhood association, but when we were asked if either of us would consider running for president, we said we would run in the other direction, fast and far! I'm glad you are having a good experience with your association. For us, it has been important to be involved, but there have been meetings when I pulled out large clumps of hair from my head. Other times, it has been very rewarding.

We went down to the river here on our Monday off. It was ideal. We took our lunch and sunned and floated. I even visited the rock I showed our Joani from the bridge. ;)

I hope you are having a good afternoon.

I thought long about if I want to do it. In the end my nosiness won. I mean I will get insight in stuff of the institution I am not even dreaming about.

The thing with that position is that I really believe that I would fit. I am working in a literature museum right now and my previous job was in a private college with main courses on cultural topics. And I am responsible for the server here (also as help for the network admin - he has his last day today and for the next months that means I am responsible for the main server as well). I did internships in the U.S. and in the U.K., my English is fantastic (if I may say so). What else can they ask for?

I've heard a little bit of Charlotte Church mostly on the television - she doesn't tend to sing repertoire which I'm into so I haven't paid that much attention to her.

She tends to sing a little bit from here, and then a little bit from there - I doubt that she's had the training to build up the stamina to sing an entire opera (singing a lead role is roughly equivalent to running a half marathon you know).

If you could make it all the way down to Tarpon Springs, you'll really find some bargains. About five years ago, my wife and I were in an antique shop in Tarpon Springs, and went to the back room there. They had a Heywood Wakefield dining room table, with all the chairs, for $350.00. And, it was in great shape. I kick myself in the ass all the time for not getting that one.

I've decided to put my book online and make a little money with it through other means. My book definitely isn't a "professional" production and never was meant to be. Rather, it was meant and written specifically to be read by one and all (regardless of educational level) so everyone can be prepared for whatever emergencies hit our lives. I never want to see another "Katrina aftermath" as long as I live and if I can have a small hand in preventing that then I will be happy.

 You all take care and watch out for each other.:grouphug:

First, thinking that since i haven't had any caffeine that it might have given me a headache. Second, i thought my brain didn't have enough water this week.

I might take some pill later but i really do hate them.

We're definitely on the count-down now. The packers are coming tomorrow morning to do the china, pictures, and mirrors. I don't know if I'll be able to make it here since they're supposed to arrive at 7:00 AM.

Yeah, I am excited and nervous ... but mostly exhausted. But I LOVE our realtor! I must've sounded tired when he called yesterday and he got all soft and fatherly-sounding. We've known him for over 12 years, so it's OK when he's like that. I'd bristle if anyone else called me sweetie!

Do you have to go out to do laundry, or do you have washer/dryer in your apartment? I'm ALWAYS doing it, so it would be pretty bad if I had to go out.

102. We don't have washer and dryer hookups in this apartment.
So we have to go to the laundromat. I kinda prefer that though because we can do it all at once and get it ALL done in about two hours. I'm glad I've never gotten on your nerves like that. Our GM once asked me why I say "Miss" in front of a ladies name, when it's well known that she's married. I told her it is a form of southern courtesy to which she responded; "Oh."

109. I also worked with a guy who did that.
And, being an old married lady, I actually liked being called "Miss". I DON'T like being called "ma'am" though. x( And I don't like "Mrs. C..." -- when the nurses called me that after my daughter was born, I didn't even know who they were talking to!

Oh ... I couldn't tolerate the laundromat at all, with all those detergent and fabric softener smells. We lucked out with the rental house -- it has W/D hookups and we didn't include our W/D in the listing for the house. I don't mind throwing a load in and letting it wash while I do other things. I'm hoping to get some last-minute stuff done either tomorrow or Friday morning.

I'm still trying to figure out how we can make Tallahasse be on our way -- and we could say hello to you for Saturday breakfast. Wouldn't THAT be too cool? :bounce: But we'd have to have a tailgate breakfast so we didn't have to leave the kitties alone in the car.

133. We usually take I-95 up.
But we can look at the map and see what would happen if we took the turnpike to that other road that I can't remember the number of. We usually head west somewhere in GA anyway, I think.

Are you working on Saturday? We don't even know what time we'll get started yet, so it's hard to say when we'll arrive ... if we go that route. Hey, if they keep having fires along I-95, we might not have a choice of routes!

150. I'm looking at a map now.
The trick is to see if it's way farther west than we're going ... and if we can get there in a reasonable amount of time. We were thinking that it might actually make the trip easier if we had places to break and look forward to. :woohoo: We'll work it out and let you know, OK? But tell me what time we would have to arrive in order to see you. All we know now is that it took about 10 hours to get from here to Eglin and I THINK that was about two hours from Tallahassee. (The kids could make it in 9 hours, but we try not to think about HOW. :scared:)

I have to look more closely ... but, then, I don't have a TN map. It's in the other car, which is in the driveway (and I'm still in my jammies). The southeastern states maps don't have as much detail.

What time do you wake up? We could call when we get close and then you could give us directions. This all assumes we leave sometime during the night on Friday, which is a pretty sure bet.

123. Oh thanks!
I'll be finishing it up today, and am confident it'll be just fine. I don't do a lot of web-work anymore so I'm a bit rusty, and all said, I was only in the kindergarten level to begin with.

I've been there. My last Toys R Us inventory I stayed for almost 36 hours straight scanning the stock room. All but one of the stock guy had quit the week before. I felt like death warmed over me. :D

We sat listing to a talented local entertainer belting out many of my favorite oldies as we enjoyed supper watching the sun set into the Gulf. I haven't been this happy in a long long time.
