To all my dear Lounge friends.....The wait is over.......

My nurse practitioner just now called me.......

And, SO FAR, the news is good!

The fluid from my right nipple is entirely benign!

There's some protein material in it, but this is not a cause for alarm.

The probable cause? PROBABLY an inflamed duct.......but we don't know completely for sure YET!

I will go in next week for the repeat mammogram, and ultrasound......

And later, there will be a ductogram for the definitive diagnosis......

But at least the news today is GOOD!

134. I had pain, swelling and discharge from

my right nipple. The area was hot to the touch so I knew that it was probably an infection of some sort.

The pain and swelling I originally thought came from cysts. I have fibrocystic breasts so that is not too uncommon-especially in times of stress. But the discharge was new.

I saved up my money and went to a low cost clinic (no insurance at the time). They said that it was inflamed and slightly infected and that it could have been any number of reasons-including my sensitivities to soap and lotions. The final thought was that I had a fibrocystic outbreak while using a new body lotion (which I was). The lotion did cause a rash so I had quit using it. The fibrocystic caused my breast to swell, as usual, and the small rash was rubbed by my tighter bra (tighter because of the usual swelling). Though the rest of the rash went away I had one small area still there that had become inflamed and hardened. They said that it was infected and the infection had gone into a duct, which is what caused the discharge.

In my case it was just little things that all snowballed and caused a big scare.
