So when did the word "rim" replace the word "wheel?"
Last I heard, the rim was the outside part of the wheel (Hey, lookit the rims on that Civic), but I guess I'm getting old, because I also didn't notice when the word "said" was replaced by the phrase "was like." ('So I was like 'no way,' and she was like 'way,' and I was like 'totally,' and she was like 'later.'")

1. i don;t know but.. did you schedule your party?
or did you buy that company and put life on the backburner?
me and stellnoir were wondering about these things.
and "like" often means "i iwish i had said"

3. Hey, sweetheart! The buying-the-company is still in the negotiating
stage but is looking promising...I already have commitments from three key people who will defect from the company where they work (and where they used to work for me), just so they can work for me again...and have offered to take pay cuts (as are necessary with a startup/startover) for the opportunity of doing so (and doesn't THAT make me feel good to know I was such a good manager back then).

Now, all I need is about two million more $$, but I think I know where I can get it. We'll see.

Mrs R and I have been talking about the DU party, but we've been so busy trying not to drown in the recent monsoons that we haven't come up with anything firm. As soon as we know if we're going to have a SUMMER this year, we'll let you know.

How's every little thing with you these days?

2. My dear Redstone.....
I guess us "old folks" will just have to carry on in our own sweet way, huh?

I find those figures of speech that you quoted here to be utterly appalling.

4. I've been reading the Little Guy the riot act about it lately.
I interrupt him every single time he says "I was like" and make him repeat himself, using "I said."

Someday, he'll thanks me for it.

8. Oh, yes, I remember plucking those spokes to tune the wire wheels.
Not wire rims.

10. You forgot 'all'
Edited on Fri Jun-09-06 12:51 AM by Oeditpus Rex
As in, "So I'm like, 'Huh?' and she's all, 'Yeah!' And I go, 'No way!' and she's all, 'Way,' so I'm like, 'Bitch' and she's all, 'Ho!'"

Reet!

I almost forgot: Guys were sayin' "rims" back when I was, like, all about really cool rims.

12. So if you get a rim job does that mean that you get
new wheels??

I'm sorry...I just couldn't let that one get past me.

17. Speaking of "rims"
Edited on Fri Jun-09-06 09:13 AM by DaveTheWave
They have "rent-to-own" rim stores here in town. If they're anything like the "rent-to-own" appliance and computer stores by the time you own it, you've paid three times over what the normal cost would be.

Damn, if I wasn't so honest I'd love to open a shop like that. Sell some fool a set of $3000 rims at $100 a week for 24 months.
