Tonight I have a date with a Texas Democrat!
Well, she's from Texas now in CA, but she is a dem and is sickened by whats going on in this country.
That'll give us something to talk about but I hope it doesnt dominate the conversation for the whole evening.
Wish me luck!

2. Thanks! I think it will.
Plus she has a cynical and sarcastic sense of humor like I do.

4. Good for you, Maveric! There are so many topics to discuss….
It’s good you have politics in common, but you should also talk of other things. She will want to know about YOU and your other interests. Likewise, if you like her then you should be interested in other aspects of her life.

10. Report:
It started out crappily. I was to meet her at this sports bar in Santee CA. She was 1 hour late showing up and I was about to leave when she walked in, with her friend, who ended up shadowing us the whole evening. Can you say C*ck Block?
We then walked over to the club next door where I discovered that she is very popular there. I spent the whole evening watching her talking to scores of others. Ok, thats nice. But its a damn date!
The club was loud (had a great blues and classic rock band though), and we didnt get to really talk due to the loud music, her friend being at our table the whole damn time, and the many patrons who were hanging around and on her throughout the evening.
At the end of the night we got about 20 minutes of privacy. At this point I asked her out again. To take HER out to dinner at the beach, and to watch the sunset. She declined that offer but wanted me to meet her at the same two bars in Santee where her girlfriends hang out. Then she told me that she does this every night. hanging in the same seedy bars and drinking herself into a stupor.
This will not work for me. I cant hang around in bars EVERY NIGHT! The Same bars! I had a drinking problem for years and had to teach myself how to control such things. I'm not strong enough to sit in a bar, for hours, every night and not drink. So there will not be a second date here.
The topic of poolitics never came up between us. But when I was outside having a smoke I did discuss the state of things politically with a few others. I was surprised that in a "red" redneck town like Santee that so many are against bu$h and his policies.

She's a nice lady but very flighty and I suspect alcoholic. If she's looking for a meaningful relationship, like she told me she was, then she may have to modify her lifestyle a little. Thats too bad because she's sweet and i do like her.
Oh well... It sucks to be 50 and single.

11. Oh, honey, I'm sorry it didn't go well. She just wasn't the one...
I never wanted to hang out in bars every night at ANY age, and you know not all women are like her. It's good that you realize her lifestyle would not be healthy for you. Keep your chin up and eyes open, for your ladylove might be just around the corner....

12. Oh, maveric, I wish you better luck with the next person.
I have no idea what it would be to date again. I've been married to the same feller for 34 years next February.

You deserve better than this. Go for it -- with someone else!

Have a good Sunday (Father's Day)!

In peace,

Radio_Lady

13. Thank you Radio_Lady.
Its been tough dating since my divorce nine years ago. Being a stutter kind of drops down a couple of rungs out here in CA and the "good ones" seem to look for the models where all the equipment works properlyI'm not sure as to if I should keep up the search or just say screw it and resign myself to a life of celibacy. Which doesnt settle well with me.

18. Yeah, I was divorced twice before I met this Mr. Right.

It was very lonely -- although I did have my two kids.

I was still in my (late) 30s and answered an ad from a widower who had lost his wife and left him with three kids.

It was crazy for many years as we merged the two families. But, we're still together, by hook or crook.

I only know one single gal in the Los Angeles area, and she is a friend from away back. I dated her husband before he met her, then they went on to have two kids. A boy died in a car wreck; killed by a drunken driver in 1985. Her husband took it badly, and died of a heart attack soon afterwards. She still has a daughter in her 30s.

Life is so cruel and it's great to have a partner, at least until death separates us two. Here we are in London's Piccadilly Circus, after the show.

In peace,

Radio_Lady
