Hormones suck.
Used to be I was so laid back and even-tempered it was almost scary. All the time. I couldn't grasp what these women were complaining about...PMS? What's the big deal?

Then I got older. Had kids.

And now, every three weeks or so I get moody. Irritable. Unreasonable. Snarky. Stupid. Often I can keep it under control but some months are worse than others and I don't see it until the damage has been done, usually.

Then the cramps start and I'm back to being irritable. Moody. Less unreasonable but Definitely Snarky.

Fuckin' hormones.

GAAAAAH!!!!

Someone pass the Advil.

But about hormones, yes, they do suck. I'm right there with ya.

15. So I understand...
But if it means an end to these mood swings...I dunno. I've been up and down like a fuckin' yo-yo since last week. This month has been the worst yet, I think.

I'm not a big one for meds...never have been. Advil or something for a headache or cramps and that's about it. Maybe a little NyQuil if I'm Really down with something but even then I'd rather not. When I had my tubes tied, I didn't take the pain meds. When I've had dental work done...even when my wisdom teeth were taken out...all of 'em at the same time, even...no pain meds. All of my deliveries...no meds.

If I had health insurance right now...I'm to the point where I'd be making a visit to see what could be done.

It's gotten that bad.

At least this month.

:(

You had no pain meds after surgery/ having your wisdom teeth removed?

Please tell me you at least had anesthesia during those procedures!!

Yeah. As long as they knock me out during, I'm generally fine after. At least nothing that over-the-counter stuff can't handle. I guess I have a high tolerance for pain.

25. They're in a gelcap form
Personally, I take 2 1000 mg a day, that's what I found works for me.

Any more, and I bloat up like crazy and my muscles ache, any less and I get the PMS, cramps and severe nausea.

Get a good brand, however...some are cheap, and I noticed a huge difference when I tried to make a switch. Or at least stick with the same brand, then you have consistency, anyway.

I use this stuff, and find it excellent:

You'll have softer skin as a result, too. A nice benefit. :D

29. Yes, it sure is
You may not expect anything right away. I believe I started at 2x500 mg capsules; I then added one more per day after the first month (spaced out, am and pm, with food), then another the next month. I did try to increase it once more after, but felt lousy, and realized I had found my optimal dose.

You may want to intially start with 500 mg 2x a day, because with the smaller dosages, you can gauge it better. If you happen to find 1, 2 or 3,000 mgs a day works best for you, then by all means get the 1000 mg capsule, as it's easier. But to start, I think the 500mg is sufficient.

Personally, I found about 50% of my symptoms abated after taking it for a month; by month 3, about 95% were gone.

Sometimes I still feel a bit down, and tired (that's due to iron issues I have yet to work out), but for the most part, it's smooth sailing.

Honestly, I can't believe I did without it. It's been about 8 years that I've been on it.

Hope it helps you as much as it did for me!

30. Even if it took a couple of months...
ANY relief would help.

I've never been moody like this. Never. And for the past few months...maybe the past six or so...I'm noticing a definite difference and I don't like it.

Then there's the whole physical side to it...that's getting worse too. Even if this only helps with one side...I don't even care which...

Anything.

39. What happens is that it dilates your bloodvessels
Which releives pressure points. THis is one of the reasons why its such an effective painkiller. IT's also why your eyes glow red when you smoke it.

It also mellows out your hormones a little, but this has never been proven.

Oh, and it also feels fucking great ;)
