Firefox question for your awesome DU computer wizards!

For some reason, when I click on a yahoo news story, for example....

The ads and pictures don't show

The box shows what appears to be the QuickTime logo with a question mark in the middle of it.

Puting the cursor over it seems to indicate it's a Macromedia application.

I've downloaded the Macromedia plug in and installed it, and I've re-installed Firefox.

But nada.

Any ideas? (I have a 2005 Mac)

1. might be spyware

might be spyware replacing the pictures with ads, had that happen before

2. It's probably Flash

you need it. Was that the thing you installed?
